Pros: Cleans great, easy to maintain, can't beat the price.
Cons: Replacement HEPA filter is a tad pricey; hose could be longer.
The Bottom Line: Overall, I heartily recommend this vacuum cleaner. It does such a good job I would have expected it to cost quite a bit more.

Old vacuum dead. Carpets filthy. Must have new vacuum. What to do?
EPINIONS TO THE RESCUE!
Based on the advice I found here on Epinions, I purchased a Eureka Bagless/Cyclonic Whirlwind Vacuum at my local Costco for $140. It does a fantastic job, it was easy to assemble, and is quite possibly the best vacuum cleaner I've ever owned. For what it does, it was definitely the best value.
The $20 HEPA filter does a great job and the manual says it only needs to be replaced every 6 months; since my wife no longer sneezes during vacuuming, I guess it's worth it.
The manual says that the hose should be hooked against the body of the vacuum in such a way that only 1/3 of the hose is still available for reaching out from the cleaner. This seems a bit strange, and the only reason I can think of is that perhaps people were breaking the hose joint by stretching and pulling it too hard. Regardless, this does make it awkward to use the included attachments. Speaking of attachments, those that are supplied work just fine and are actually easy to store on the cleaner itself. Past models I've owned have ended up with the hose and attachments lying on the closet floor.
Overall, I heartily recommend this vacuum cleaner. It does such a good job I would have expected it to cost quite a bit more.
