Pros: Long lasting grease cutters. Easy to use on a sponge and save water.
Cons: Not anti-bacterial.
The Bottom Line: I scoffed at this product but it proved to be a better and more improved product than any other dishwashing product I have used.

| 42ENGLISH's Full Review: Dawn Direct Foam Dishwashing Detergent |
I use a dishwasher but I wash the more bulky items such as large pots and bowls by hand. They just take up too much room in the dishwasher and hinder in the cleaning process of the other dishes. So along with initially cleaning off caked on food on the dishwasher items, I know that this increases my water bills substantially but what other choice do we have?
When I saw this Dawn Direct Foam, I scoffed, Yeah, another product jacked up to be something it isnt. However, the fact that it claimed to put out 250 pumps led me to buy it more than its claim of cutting and absorbing 10 x more grease. I bought this product from my local HEB grocery store for $3.49 and took it home to try it out.
Ingredients, Description & Packaging:
Water, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Phenoxyisopropanol, Propylene Glycol, SD Alcohol, C12-14-16 Dimethyl Amine Oxide, Sodium Cumenesulfonate, Laureth 3, Sodium Chloride, Terpineol, Cyclohexanediamine, Polyacetate, Fragrance
This product comes in a nifty looking, plastic, 13.5 fl oz bottle. It has an extra large pump dispenser which makes the bottle rather attractive sitting by your sink. It also comes in three different scents including: Lime Surge (green), Citrus Kick (yellow), and Fresh Rapids (blue), the one I bought. The product dispenses as a creamy white foam with a pleasantly fresh scent.
This dish soap is distributed by Proctor & Gamble, a company that amongst other noted products, distributes brands such as Bounce Fabric Softener, Crest Toothpaste, Downy Fabric Softener, Febreze, Herbal Essences, Noxzema, Pampers diapers and the infamous Swiffer products.
Dawns Claim:
Vacuum away grease with Dawn Direct Foam. The first ever dishwashing foam that absorbs 10 x more grease and will change the way you do dishes. Ordinary dish liquids can sweep grease from dish to dish. Dawn actually absorbs and locks in grease.
My Experience:
Why do we always wash the glasses and cups first, the grimy pans last? Because we know that the glasses will be at their cleanest, right? Because once you have washed something with grime and grease on it, you know you are either going to have to add more dish soap or change the dishwater completely. Why? Because the grease tends to stay with your sponge and the more you wash, the less clean your kitchen pans are.
If you have a dishwasher, why do you have to fill the sink with soapy water to clean off excess food first? Because that is the only sure-fire way you know they will be ready for the dishwasher, right?
Despite my premonitions, this product has changed the way I do dishes. The first thing I noticed about Dawn Direct Foam is just how rich the foam is. It is easily dispensed by just pressing gently on the pump but I was expecting a watery type foam that would probably diminish quickly. This foam is thick, creamy and concentrated. Just one pump is enough to soap up a sink full of hot water. As I said, I use a dishwasher so rinsing off glasses and cups is usually enough. However, I found it more useful when applied directly to the sponge to wash caked on food and greasy pans and bowls.
Even through rinsing, one pump gives ample enough soap to wash four to five large pans or bowls without much effort. I can breeze through caked and baked on casserole dishes and it picks up dried egg yolk so much easier than any other product I have used.
One downside is that I like to use anti-bacterial products in my kitchen. This is not an anti-bacterial product.
Conclusion:
I save money using this Dawn Direct Foam. I dont use as much water when washing my dishes as I rinse less and dont have to fill the sink with water. I am even finding this product lifts off some baked on food I used to have to soak beforehand. I do believe that there may be 250 pumps in each bottle. This one has lasted by far longer than the normal liquids I usually buy.
Even though I scoffed and maybe you will, I recommend you try this product as it might change the way you wash dishes too. I would give it five stars if only it was anti-bacterial.
