Reasonably good product, very flawed execution.

I subscribed to the eDiets Express service, that promises fresh, custom meals delivered to your door weekly. They did deliver weekly, but about a third of the time, the meals were no longer cold by the time they got to me. Hmmm... warm mail-order tuna salad. Riiiight. They were very evasive on the phone about dealing with the issue, and got more so as I called back multiple times
The first time it happened, they actually sent me a canned response claiming that the meals were safe to eat even if left unrefrigerated in the original packaging for 24hrs after delivery. Gee, even if they're warm? After I told them that one of the meals made me ill, they no longer recommended for me to eat the meals that arrived warm.
One of the weeks of meals that arrived warm was a "free" week, part of their pay for 4 weeks, get 1 week free promotion. They refunded the shipping on the meals, but never replaced the meals themselves. Not sure how that constitutes a free week of meals. Also, their website just happened to have a problem during the window for customizing the meals for my free week, so I didn't get to choose any of the food that they sent. Which is just as well, I guess, since it was bad anyway.
As another reviewer said, I've had mixed results with them responding to email, though when called on the issue they've claimed that a response was sent. Funnily enough, I always get their canned update emails, and account emails, and have never found a response from them in my spam filter.
When the meals arrive cold, as they're supposed to, I'm pretty pleased with them. It took a couple weeks for me to figure which meals sounded better than they tasted, but overall I think it's a good product. I poked around on some other sites that offer weekly meal delivery and they all seem to use a lot of the same items, so I don't know if they all get them from a central source, or what. the eDiets program is less expensive than some others, though.
The menu interface on their website for reviewing and customizing meals is clunky and buggy -- the link to it doesn't always work, there's no clear documentation on how the "upgrades" work, and it's very slow.
I was willing to stick out one or two bad experiences in favor of the convenience of being able to choose my menu online and have the food arrive magically, but they've been so unreliable it may be time to go to a regular supermarket delivery service instead.
