Pros: friendly and knowledgable support (and free), everything included (all-in-one package)
Cons: WordPress was a 'bit' tricky, but easy enough to figure out
The Bottom Line: Helpful support, great features, fast loading website, easy-to-use control panel, WordPress great for my site. Highly recommended!

I don't usually write reviews about companies but I decided to in this case.
I set up and manage a website for my dragonboat (canoe racing) team. When searching for a web hosting company I did quite a bit of research and found that there are a LOT of hosting companies with many different capabilities. To help with the decision I set up up a bit of a 'matrix' with the features and pricing etc, and Netfirms came out on top.
Some of the features I was looking for:
- easy to set up an interactive website, as opposed to brochure-ware...I wanted my team to be able to USE the site on a daily basis. Also should be easy for me to update content
- friendly/helpful customer support...in case I got stuck with anything
- affordably priced...our team is not overflowing with money!
- lots of disk space and bandwidth...I don't want to run out of space or hit any limits if and when the site gets busy
- fast and stable website...I want the site to be 'snappy'
These were my main concerns, and Netfirms seemed to cover them all better than the other hosts. So I took the leap and signed up.
Well, from my first point of contact (and onwards) Netfirms exceeded my expectations. I spoke with someone in sales first, and they helped me choose the 'Advantage' plan. It has a one-click installer for an application called WordPress. This piece of software forms the backbone of my team's website. While setting up the site, WordPress allowed me to choose a pre-existing template and modify it to suit our needs. It also lets me add and update content as easily as using MS Word.
I had some questions while getting the website setup, so I called customer support, and I was pleasantly surprised! Not only did they answer my call quickly, but they were friendly (so rare these days!) and helped me with the questions I had about WordPress.
The Netfirms control panel (where you manage your website) worked well and was pretty easy to figure out. The hosting plan comes with 2 domain names included, and I set them both up in the control panel without any problems (I set up a second name to 'forward' to the website). I also set up e-mail addresses for the whole team (they loved that!).
So the website is up and running and my dragonboat team thinks I'm the big hero for setting it up. We even have a running events calendar that everybody uses to stay up to date. Love it!
Overall I'd give Netfirms two thumbs up...I really have no complaints (I even tried to think of some!). If you're looking for a solid, feature-rich and friendly web host, I recommend Netfirms.
