Sorry it took so long to respond, I never was notified by Epinions of a comment on this review.

I am sorry you had such a bad time with PowerDVD 7, I have had nothing but good video playback and great sound with it for about four months now. No problems what-so-ever.

I don't know what could be causing it, but I am sure the problem can be rectified.

Thanks for the comment and for reading my review.

Powerd DVD 7 - Bad News! (Reply to this comment)
by noelt
I've been using Power DVD 6 for two years and have been very pleased with it so I thought I could trust the upgrade. Bot was I wrong! Installed it without difficulty. That's the end of the good news. All hell broke loose playing DVDs. Firstly, it somehow managed to stuff up the Region settings on the DVD Drive, reported it was Region 2 and would only play Region 2 DVDs. I'm in Region 4 (with a Region 4 drive)and have never played a Region 2 DVD in my life. I had to break the region code before I could even play a DVD. Then after about 10 minutes in most but not all cases, the sytem freezes and crashes. Cyberlink help desk sent me a staggeringly complicated stack of possible fixes some of which could not have anything to do with the problem. I uninstalled the software - reloaded Version 6 and all is now fine except I've completely wasted my money on Version 7. Don't waste yours!
