The Bottom Line: Expensive, but worth it. Superior sound quality, rock solid construction, ease of operation, and excellent customer service and factory support. What more can anyone ask for?

The Bang and Olufsen Penta loudspeakers are simply amazing.
They are unusually solid and heavy to begin with -- position
them carefully, since you won't want to move them once you have placed them!
The first time I listened to some of my favorite jazz cd's on the Penta's, I had a hard time recognizing them. Instead of the pleasing, if slightly muddled blend of sound I'd gotten used to from my old JBL's, i heard a startlingly clear composite of instruments and percussion. It sounded as though the Jazz combo had suddenly taken up residence in my living room.
These speakers produce a remarkably transparent sound which allows the listener's ear to separate each instrument from the others, regardless of whether the volume is sotto voce or at full strength.
If you are a fan of jazz or classical, these speakers are for you. Don't waste your money on this set if your thing is rap or heavy metal.
If you have treasured lp's, or cd reissues of rare or old recordings, you will be delighted at the way the Penta's bring these renderings to life. Imagine listening to an old Louis Armstrong or Ben Webster recording, and having it presented as if it had been recorded last year instead of 50 years ago!
Harmonic distortion is not an issue with these speakers. Nor are limits of range.
Operation couldn't be easier. The speakers are powered, and turn themselves on and off automatically, when coupled with a Bang and Olufsen system. One touch and you have music. Another touch and everything is turned off.
Lastly, these speakers are made for the long haul. Bang and Olufsen customer service is excellent, and the company runs a comprehensive reconditioning service, should your speakers ever require repair. You drop them off at your nearest authorized dealer, and pick them up a few weeks later in like new condition. Repair rates are reasonable too.
