Pros:Nice big screen, clear picture, nice sound.
Cons:Power button - very hard to work.
The Bottom Line: Perfect for those who don't want to pay the extra $200 for a 36" screen. This TV is rated well by Consumer Reports as well.
We bought our Philips 32" TV from Wal-Mart for $550 in December of 1999. We are very happy with it. We didn't want a big-screen, or a flat screen, and the 36" we a good deal more expensive and we didn't think the difference was really worth the four extra inches.
This TV works great. The picture is very clear, the sound is good, and it is an attractive piece of equipment. The remote control will also operate a VCR, which comes in handy for us. We have been able to hook up our VCR, DVD player, sound system and video camera without too much hassle.
My only gripe is the power button that turns the television on and off. It seems a small thing, but can be very irritating. The button does not protrude. It has to be actually, deliberately pushed IN to turn the set on or off. No passing by quickly and running a hand along the surface to shut off the set. You will 99% of the time have to back up and push it in again, harder. It is not sensitive to the touch. The other buttons protrude slightly and are easier to push. Wish the power button was as convenient.
Other than that, we love our TV. Haven't had any problems with it. Our house was struck by lightening last year and many appliances and electronics were damaged, but the television remained in fine condition. This set is recommented.
