Teenage depression isn't easy to suppress

The Bottom Line I hope this review helps you to manage your depressed teenagers life!!

One thing that most teenagers go through is depression, because of the way they look. They often feel like they don't matter, and that they are ugly, because 1-in-100 people are prettier than they are.

I know that it is a very difficult thing to overcome, thinking that you are ugly, and that task I am having the most difficulty with, I have yet to fulfil this task. Believe me it more difficult than trying to get exams right.

If you are happily married (or smug married as Bridget Jones calls them) with little children then you don’t really have that much to worry about, so I’m going out to all the teenagers and mums/dads of teenagers.

I know I’ve only just written an opinion on this subject but it’s about one of the only things I know anything about!! The last review I wrote was how to raise a teenager, so is this review but with a twist. I have decided to write about how to help teenage depression, which is something that I am going through at the moment.

I must remind you I am NOT being PATRONISING; I merely want to help with a problem that can be dealt with in time, and I’m not saying it is EASY, but hang on in there and you and your teenager will be alright in the end!!

It all depends on what is stressing out the individual as to what you can do to help them, at the moment the worries for me are passing my exams, however appearance and my weight is a very BIG issue. I think that I am fat, know I know that if my friends such as SMILE2K1 or Abi as I call her thinks this isn’t true, I do. The thing that stresses me out the most is seeing all these models on television and in magazines that are so pretty and so thin.

However, I do keep telling myself that they are air brushed and are probably really ugly in real life. If you have the same problem as me or your son/daughter does, you will know it’s not always that easy to convince yourself, is it??

One really good way to make yourself feel better is to, listen to rock music such as Staind, the leads singer of Staind has serious manic depression so the music will either make you anger your anger out or it will make you cry your depression out, it’s as easy as that. Well not quite.

You should also find pictures of those stupid thin models and draw on their faces with black pen. Give them black teeth, boils (gross I know but still very funny and therapeutic) also make them have spots and make them look really unattractive, this will definitely make you feel better. (Now if there are any models out there, I’m truly sorry, I don’t mean to cause any offence or upset, I merely want to help the manic depressants of the world.

Also if you are a parent (Like I said in my other review) talk to your children, make them laugh and feel wanted. All they want in the world is to feel loved by a special person. If you can afford it, plan a mini break to somewhere like Oasis (maybe only an English thing, it’s basically a holiday park with lots of sporting activities and health spa things. Fabulous I tell you!!).

If you can’t afford that buy them some bubble bath, so that they can have a long relaxing bath with candles (and if you allow your children to have alcohol) and a glass of Chardonnay or champagne. This is one of the most relaxing and distressing things I the world. Try it yourself; it’s luxury.

If your teenager is really upset, let them cry out the depression and stress, one of the best things to do is to cry out all your pain. If you are a Christian get some of the members of you church to pray for you and you worries and depression will slowly but miraculously fade away.

What ever you do don’t make them feel bad and try not to laugh at them (not that any decent person, like you at Epinions would laugh anyway. And if you would, that’s terribly. However, nervous laughing is acceptable, especially if you are not a touchy-feely type. You never know you might end up making your teenager laugh!!!)

If you child is depressed you must find the source of their depression, one of the many sources of my depression is from people laughing at me, saying how fat and ugly I am. Not ever nice, but when they say it I just ignore them .If this is the case with you teenager you must tell someone at their school who is high in authority and maybe they can stop this bullying from happening.

If you teenager will not tell you what the problem is, ask them every so often, but do NOT pester them, as they will feel harassed and get even more fed up. If your daughter is pre-menstrual go easy on her, as she will be in more of a state because of that.

If you aren’t having any luck with your teenager and they will not tell you anything, try and arrange something with one of their friends so that they will tell you something (I know this is going behind their back and betraying their trust.

But if you are really worried about them and they won’t tell you anything, what else are you meant to do??) A girl will either tell her best friend (s) what the problem is or the parent she gets on with the most, in my case it’s my Mum. You have to make sure you use the right words and don’t be patronising, I can assure you that will make the situation far worse than it ever was.

If you have a really funny friend or relative or you are funny yourself, then I truly suggest you use you wisdom and wit to cheer you little weary soul up. They need all the happiness and loving they can get in these rough stages. Reassure them that everything will be ok and tell them something that will make them feel better. You know your teenager better than me, so I will leave that one up to you.

Presents are a lovely way to cheer someone up, however as I state all the time they aren’t the best things in life. They are love, honesty trust and happiness. However, the last one is very hard to get. If you have true happiness, I’m ever so pleased for you and could you tell me how.

If it’s to do with being married and having children, for me at 15 years old, I think it’s out of the question!!! But please if you have any suggestions, I will happily mention you in my review and add your suggestions. That way you’ll be helping me and I will be helping you get more members visiting you reviews!!

I know everyone is capable of helping someone; you love or help a friend, so go out there and you my useless knowledge to cheer someone up today!! Go on I have faith in you, as much as most of you have faith in God!! Good luck, as I know it’s not easy!!

Thanks for reading I hope it helps!! Rach xx :-)
