Pros: POWERFUL. Great remote control. Great features. Deos the job flawlessly.
Cons: Very bulky & awkward to move during off-season, especially by yourself. To be expected though!
The Bottom Line: I do not regret this purchase whatsoever. I am very happy with LG and this AC unit. TWO COLD THUMBS UP!

I understand this is limited detail review, and I will expand my epinion very soon. If you would refrain from rating this as 'not helpful' or only 'somewhat helpful' at least for now, I would appreciate it...I promise very soon I will add more!
I bought this AC unit last summer from The Home Depot for about $265. It was VERY comparable in price to other units of the same size, actually cheaper than most. I opted for the slightly more expensive 12,000 BTU unit, instead of the 8,000 or 10,000 because good sense made me believe that a more powerful unit would run LESS often, using less electricity in the long run to cool my home. A cheaper, smaller unit would have to run MORE to do the same job, and I would be paying for it for years to come on my electric bill. And I must say, I made a wise choice.
As I mentioned, I bought this last year during one of the hottest summers Michigan has had in years. It seemed like every day from June first through mid September was 90+ and humid. If you live in CA, AL, AZ, TX, or FL, I apologize for whining about 90's, but I live in Michigan for crying out loud! We're supposed to have 2 feet of snow and 20mph wind, not 90's everyday for 3 1/2 months. Anyway, I was VERY happy with this unit. It seemed a little too slow to get the initial assembly and install all squared away, but that's because it was 88 degrees in my house while I was lifting this beast. Sweat dripping off my forehead, you know how it goes.
Once in, I was in paradise. It has an awfully powerful fan, or so I thought as it iced over the drops of sweat on my face. You can electronically adjust the fan speeds via the unit itslef or the all-to-handy remote. I'm used to the old-school ac's, the ones with the thermostat dial that reads "Warmer, 2, 3, 4, Cooler". How was that ever supposed to help us figure out how cool to keep our house?
"...Wow, it feels at least 3 in here...!"
This unit has the nice LED degree numbers for the thermostat adjustment, in ONE degree increments. And it is VERY accurate. Yesterday it was 94 outside, and I set my AC unit on 75, to take the mugginess out of the air. I got home and my thermometer on the other side of the room read exactly 75. I was impressed. I guess I never paid attention to that little detail of temperature accuracy before! (Which coincidentally made me decide to review it!)
It comes with: a 'Dry' feature, which I apologize, but I have little technical info on how or what exactly this does, other that the obvious fact that it removes humidity. A de-humidifier I guess you might call it. A 'Fan' setting gives you a nice burst of air circulation, with or without the pull-stick outside vent control. The 'Energy Saver' setting, quite a novel idea...instead of just the compressor shutting off and the fan continually running, as in older ACs and in this one's 'Cool' mode, the whole unit shuts off, and turns back on as necesary.
I will elaborate soon on the energy usage and various other technical details that I don't have here right now. Stay tuned. And if you're reading this wanting to know if this is a good investment, YES.. BUY IT! LG seems like they'll be the next GE.
