I did the exact same thing when choosing between a 5,000, 6,000, 8,000 and a 10,000-BTU window unit!! I knew that a 5,000 or a 6,000 wouldn't work efficiently. The 8,000-BTU might have worked.
There was also a 14,000-BTU unit, but I thought that was too much cooling power for the space that I need to cool.
I opted for the 10,000-BTU unit. It cools like you wouldn't believe!! Big and powerful!! Nice!!!!
