Re: A few minor technical bugs (Reply to this comment)
by mnehr
At the time this was written
1. Cingular was solely CDMA, they still have not completely converted their network to GSM.
2. That is correct for now.
3. iDEN is a GSM service using 1900 mHz instead of the standard 800mHz

A few minor technical bugs (Reply to this comment)
by sirwired
1) Cingular uses GSM, not CDMA
2) VoiceStream is now T-mobile
3) Nextel uses none of the above. They use a unique technology called iDEN, which is only sold by Motorola.

Most Helpful information that answered questions I have 'wondered' but didn't take the time to research. Alas, within this review I glean insight in an understandable format!
Thanks and Hugs~

Great review! (Reply to this comment)

Now on my third phone from my third provider, I gotta say, great review...
except...
Sometimes the games can be lifesavers if you get dragged shopping somewhere and spend lots of time waiting for someone to try on outfits, or in long lines at the airport or waiting for a table at a busy restaurant.
And I wouldn't discount the ring-tones too quickly. Even if it doesn't allow downloads, I would still say to check how many the phone offers, if that's something that's important to you. My wife and I have identical phones. We put our names on the screens, but they're flip phones, so we need distinctive rings. Our Nokia's had 30 or so different built-in choices (not to mention the ability to download more) while our Motorola StarTacs only offer 9, many of which we don't like.
And the faceplate comment someone else made was pretty good, too. They do help in a pinch with a multi-phone family at quickly grabbing yours from the charger when you're running out the door late. I look longingly at the neat flashing light things at the kiosk in the mall, but there's none for the Motorola's.
Lastly, I would recommend people check out the menuing system. We found the Nokia's to be 1,000 times easier to operate than our Motorola's. Better phone book, plus basic calendaring, alarm clock, calculator and the aforementioned games. They wouldn't replace a palm-pilot, but can do in a pinch when you only have one hand free to try to quickly calculate something. It's almost criminal that Motorola is so cumbersome and difficult to use and lacks features that should be standard by this point.

Excellent Review! (Reply to this comment)

The only thing the different color plates are really useful for is telling one phone from another in a multi-phone family. However, there is no need to spend money at the phone store, just pop off the cover and spray paint it yourself. Nail polish also works great and opens up a whole world of glitter and sparkly things, sexy stuff that is NOT available at the accessory kiosk.

Very Comprehensive (Reply to this comment)

Great job! I read that it was your 100th, but Epinions is showing it as your 99th. However, since we all know that the site's having some tech probs, let's call it #100th and I'll just say Congratulations on your 100th review! now.
