Botac.com is a site run by Botach Tactical and deals mainly with specialty items in areas such as outdoor and military gear and items used on-the-job. Everything from tools to firearms, from camping gear to clothing. I found it when searching for a Streamlight Flashlight for one of my technicians.
Botach claims they will beat any advertised price anywhere on the Internet other than sale items, limited quantity offers, manufacturer's rebates, closeouts, clearances, bulk quantity items, or typographical errors. I would also like to point out that their clearance section has significant price reductions and a large array of merchandise.

Most of these links are self-explanatory. It seems this site does business with the government in bulk as they sell various employee equipment such as firearm accessories, flares and Hazmat equipment.
Botach offers free shipping on orders of $100 or more unless they are oversized or overweight (no specifications here). You can also request a coupon through their “fast quote” link. Not so fast though. It is done by e-mail and I never received a reply.
The Buying Experience:
Buying was simple and pleasantly surprising. I was buying a Streamlight Flashlight and a separate charger. You can search by category or manufacturer. Descriptions are detailed and the part number is listed by the price. If there are specifics, they are listed in a drop box for you to choose from. Choose your quantity and checkout.
The checkout is pretty straightforward. The product’s description is listed again, shipping (estimated 4 day delivery for mine) and payment options are chosen (most major credit/debit cards, pay pal) and then a review of your purchase before a final confirmation. An e-mail confirmation is mailed right away that includes your receipt and order number.
Also included is the statement:
“If your ship to address is different than your billing, you will be contacted for verification.”
The After Buying Experience:
Since our ship to address is different than our billing, I patiently waited for an e-mail. I didn’t receive one. After two business days, I checked the status under the “track your order” link. This took me straight to UPS and our status was listed as “will call/for pick-up.” Okay, so now I had to call them to find out what’s up. No toll free number is listed. Voice-mail, how irritating. I left six messages for them to call me over a period of two days. No answer. Finally I got a call the following day. “This is Stacy from Botach Tactical, do you have a problem with your order?” I must have got about two sentences out when she hung up on me. Again, I called, again, voice mail. Again, I e-mailed, again, no response.
Finally after two weeks, I got through again and asked to speak to a supervisor. The rep hung up on me. Two days later, I managed to get a human again. This guy seemed to know what he was doing and said he would call me back after reviewing our account. “ABSOLUTELY NOT,” I said,” you stay on the phone with me while we straighten this out.” He did and we finally came to an understanding. He was quite nice and apologetic but he seemed a little lost too. I wasn’t too sure that he had understood but I gave him the benefit of the doubt. We received the merchandise two weeks later after I had had in-depth conversations with two different supervisors. It was packaged well in a strong cardboard box with figure-formed foam and arrived in excellent condition.
Conclusion:
Although this site has some quality merchandise at really competitive prices, their customer service is practically non-existent. Buying the products was easy and the site is very user friendly. I can’t say the same for Botach Tactical’s staff, however. It practically took an act of congress to get someone to answer the phone and e-mailing was a complete waste of time.
I did receive the merchandise but it was exactly 22 days late. Perhaps they spend more time on government purchases as I am sure that is where the revenue thrives most. I would suggest they have a completely separate site and staff for the general public.
I, personally, will not make another purchase from www.botac.com. The experience is too time consuming and dealing with customer service is frustrating at best.
