The Bottom Line Lucubro is heavy, melodic and won't freak out your pets. Something for the whole family to enjoy during summer road trips.

Lucubro is a rockin', female fronted group from Worcester, MA. I happened upon their photo in an issue of "Metal Maniacs," hit their website and downloaded an mp3. I was pleasantly surprised!
First of all, the website is VERY nice. Looks great and is easy to navigate. (It doesn't hurt to have a web designer/graphic artist as your guitarist!) Lucubro's music is at the same time heavy yet accessible. Krista has a terrific voice and the music is tight. "Held Within" is my favorite song although "Heaven Can Wait" has been a hit with the local radio there in MA.
My complaints are the production of the four song cd and the lyrics to "Afraid To Be Alone." The production is really quiet and weak. I think that it masks how heavy this band is. It tends to sound tinny, so the guitars have a screechy effect. More like fingernails on a chalkboard rather than good metal way.
The lyrics for "Afraid To Be Alone," are just weak. I don't like them. As a result, it's my least favorite cut.
However, I think this band is going to get better and better. They have great potential to break out of the East Coast and into the rest of the country.
So, for the love of BOB, check out their website and listen to the music! You can also purchase the four song cd online as well as T-shirts. I'm going to buy my t-shirt right now! www.lucubro.com
