Pros: Quick and simple backup and restore of your PC. Saves you a lot of time.
Cons: Price and user interface (general usability) is not very intuitive.
The Bottom Line: I absolutely recommend this product to anyone who has a windows-based PC that is used for more than merely typing documents and internet surfing.

| rab767's Full Review: Symantec Norton Ghost 10.0 Full Version for PC |
I read many user reviews about Norton Ghost prior to purchasing it. I was hesitant as I am generally not a big fan of Symantec software from past experience.
I tinker around my PC a lot, often installing beta software and drivers that sometimes crash or corrupt my system. Windows XPs built in System Restore feature is far from perfect and quite often is useless. So I end up resorting to a hard driver reformat and a fresh install of windows.
The problem is that this is a very time consuming process. It involves re-downloading tens of windows hot-fixes and the setup of all core applications (in my case, I have about ten core applications that I need to install and setup). Also, I have to tweak XP and run registry edits to customise my system all over again.
So I wanted a program that once I do all the above I can simply backup an image of my drive in this immaculate state so that I can easily restore it complete in one step in the future as needed.
Well I can safely say that for this particular purpose Norton Ghost (10.0) works as advertised. I boot my computer from CD and Norton takes you into its Recovery Environment without loading windows and allows you to do a complete system restore, including hard driver format.
My system was fully restored in under 40 minutes into a state that usually takes me six hours to achieve. All tweaks, emails, favourites, documents and programs were all there exactly as when I originally ran the backup. It was literally perfect.
The program has too many features to mention here. It supports advanced dynamic backup scenarios over networks which is amazing for those who run/administer networked PCs. Also the backups can be encrypted and password protected so they cant be tampered with.
The only issue I have with this program, and the only reason that I cannot give it a perfect score, is that it isnt very intuitive to use. You really need to read at least part of the 157-page user guide to know what youre doing. I initially started using it without reading the guide and I got lost pretty quickly. After reading it a little, much of the programs user interface became second nature.
Having said that, there really isnt any program out there that I can recommend more for people who are like me; tinker with their PC a lot and dread doing a complete format often.
