There are so many funny movies out there but what I am going for are the few movies that ACTUALLY bust you up in the theatre. #10 - History of the World part I - Mel Brooks steps in at #10 with this classic. The only disappointing thing about this movie is that they never made a part II! # 9 - Spaceballs - Mel Brooks also jumps in at #9 with Spaceballs. This movie was especially funny if you could appreciate the interlaced Jewish humor. It is one of the last times Rick Moranis was REALLY funny. # 8 - Ace Ventura Pet Detective - Propelled Jim Carrey into superstardom. Some people find this movie annoying. I say nay, its just plain ole stupid and funny. # 7 - National Lampoons Vacation - This is one of those movies you can watch over and over and over. I often wonder how Chevy Chase went from such brilliance in comedic timing to a total nothing. Shame. # 6 - Me, Myself and Irene - Jim Carrey's 2nd appearance on the list. This was such a creative idea and no one could pull off multiple personalities like Carrey. Plus his "kids" were HYSTERICAL. # 5 - Naked Gun - This movies is especially funny when you watch it now after all that happened to OJ. Leslie Neilsen has a brilliant dead pan way of delivering lines. # 4 - Dumb and Dumber - Jim Carrey again! Could be the funniest movie ever according to some people. Certainly started the 'gross-out' genre. # 3 - Something About Mary - Successor to Dumb and Dumber in the gross-out genre. Absolutely outrageously hysterical. Used to be the second funniest movie ever until... # 2 - Scary Movie came out. I am not sure if I ever laughed so hard before. Mostly because you could related the movie scene for scene to Scream. # 1 - Airplane! - No doubt the best ever! Started the shtick genre that has been duplicated (but never equaled) ever since. Classic one-liners lace the funniest movie ever made! |
