This review is odd. Neither of these speakers are in the group of the top 20 most accurate loudspeakers, they both have some serious problems and thus the title is very misleading. They are both good sounding but neither is very precise in regard to sinuous reproduction of an electrical musical signal, and thus are making a poor signal sound good because Redbook does itself has notable non-harmonic distortion present due to its sampling and quantization. Each speaker has fairly high harmonic distortion, non-time aligned step response and much less than ideal settling. I've heard B&W N801, they are boxy and the treble is metallic, while the Magnepans whine. This above review is misleading.

I like Maggies but when put next to a BG 420i, 520i or even a Z-92 I gotta take the BG every time. For spatial volume, clean highs, the BG is the better ribbon speaker.
I've owned BW 801s and Keff 203s and they are not contenders.
As the other reviewer said a good Velodyne spl-1200r sub will take care of the bass.

Great review. While I am not intimately familiar with the B&W models mentioned here, I have to say that Magnepan makes some of the greatest speakers I have ever heard. I have a pair of MG12's and drool at the thought of even being in the same room with a pair of MG20.1's.

my only advice.. instead of "Dancing Queen", try
"Take a chance on me".. the vocals at the beginning are stunning when reproduced properly:-)
