You've provided some great info in this article, but a couple of inaccuracies make it hard to highly recommend:

"For the most part, there is no difference between two chips of the same speed from different companies."

If you're talking about AMD vs. Intel CPU's, nothing could be further from the truth. Even the latest Pentium 4 CPU's running at 2 ghz are only able to match (and very rarely exceed) the overall performance of Athlon XP's running at 1.5 ghz, and that's despite the fact that the Pentium 4 costs over twice as much. You can also get Athlon XP's at up to 1.67 ghz (the Athlon XP 2000+ model) which far exceed the fastest Intel's CPUs in performance. In my opinion, with such a drastic difference in terms of price-to-performance, if the buyer doesn't notice the differences in speed, they will at least notice the amount of money saved.

"the sound processing duties can be accomplished by the video card"

I'm not aware of any video cards that can also process audio. However, some motherboards have built-in audio and/or video, where the motherboard chipset handles the duties of what an actual "card" would. In those cases you wouldn't need an actual sound card for audio.

of hard drives if you were to have such a computer? What should we at least look for, in terms of capacity?
