I bought my first pair of these on sale. I walk to work, I walk at work, I walk for fun. I also run marathons and ride horses. This is the rare pair of shoes that works for everything. Good looking enough to wear to work (in a relatively casual workplace), comfortable to walk in. You can wear them with or without socks. They are comfortable even when they get soaked and my feet thank me when I slide them on after 26 miles of running. If you wear them without socks and/or get them wet often, you may find they begin to smell. You can throw them in the washing machine, or you can replace the liners with odor-eater type liners instead. Merrell will also send you free replacement liners if you tell them about the problem (at least that was my experience). They now come in cute colors as well as the black that I first bought. You can often find them on sale. I buy them whenever I do find them on sale.
