Different postage machines have vastly different features and the features of Simply Postage meet my needs perfectly. This is not a complicated machine with a lot of bells and whistles – and I like it that way.
With some other machines, you must type in the address that you are sending the package to in order to print postage. I don’t have the time, desire or reason to do this. I just want to print postage and get the package out quickly. With this unit it’s a breeze. From the time you open up the program until you have printed postage, it takes only 4-5 clicks of the mouse to be done. This is a great time saver for me vs. typing in a shipping address.
The Simply Postage machine itself is very easy to operate and maintain. You can even preset it to print the amount of postage you use most often with the touch of just one button.
A scale is included that weighs parcels up to 4 lbs. Again, this is ideal for me, because it’s a small scale that sits on my desk without taking up much room. I have a larger scale I use for big packages, but it’s nice to have a little one at my side that takes care of the bulk of my needs without taking over my precious workspace.
You chose the amount of postage you want to buy without any fees involved. A credit card is put on file and anytime you want additional postage you click 2 buttons and it does the rest. You can purchase up to $500 at a time.
I have found their customer service to be outstanding. Each time I’ve called them, they have been knowledgeable, pleasant and quick to respond to my needs.
At one point I moved and had to send the unit in to get the new zip code programmed into the unit. They immediately sent me a new unit along with a postage paid label to return the old one. It arrived on my doorstep in 2 days! They did, however, send me different improved model that I didn’t like as well. I called, and again in 2 days had another unit delivered to me with the postage paid label to send the one I didn’t want back to them at their expense.
I pay $14.95 a month for this service. Not having to stand in line at the post office for a half hour or more each time I have packages is well worth this price.
My only complaint? The labels themselves cost about a nickel a piece. I don’t believe that they cost that much to manufacture, but I just usually buy 1000 at a time, and then try not to think about it until I have to buy them again!
If you want to ship parcel post, book rate, internationally etc. the program won’t figure out the postage for you automatically. You’ll have to weigh the package and find the correct postage (like on the USPS website) and put the correct amount in yourself. I don’t find this to be a problem for my needs, but I thought I’d let you decide for yourself if it fits your needs.
