Eddie Bauer is:
a retailer with over 380 locations throughout North America. The company was founded in the 1920's by Mr.Bauer, who was an avid outdoorsman. Their creed is: "To give you such outstanding quality, service, and guarantee that we may be worth of your high esteem." Their website is www.eddiebauer.com, which offers a variety of clothing, footwear, accessories, and gadgets.
How's the Website?
The website is appealing looking, and there is a large amount of items to select from. Both the men's and women's section have a lot to offer, and you can filter your results by pricing if desired. The load times are quite reasonable, and its a breeze to pick an item and place it in the cart. This is the best part about shopping with this company, otherwise its a disappointment.
My Experience with an Online Order
I have only ordered once from their website, because I was not exactly thrilled with my experience of online shopping with them. There was a long sleeve plaid style shirt that they were offering for $30, and it looked like a nice item. It was blue with grey squares, and I expected it to be a high quality product.(Considering you can buy a cheap plaid shirt for around $5-$8 at other retailers) After selecting it on their website, and placing it in my shopping cart, I paid with my credit card for standard shipping.
What Exactly is Standard Shipping?
The cheapest available method of sending paid merchandise to your house! I have to give Eddie Bauer credit on this, as their prices are very reasonable. Standard Shipping is supposed to deliver the products to your doorstep in 7-10 days. The prices are as follows:
Up to $50.00:$4.95
$50.01-$80.00:$6.95
$80.01-$110.00:$8.95
$110.01-$140.00:$10.95
$140.01-$170.00:$12.95
$170.01+:$14.95
The only problem I had with this "Standard Shipping", was that my shirt took over two weeks to arrive. I found this to be quite annoying, and actually unacceptable when it comes to online shopping. A few of my friends have had similar issues with this company as well, so I know that this isn't a rare incident. If you want to pay extra, you can order your products with Express and Express Plus Shipping. This should allow you to receive your order in a few business days.
Product Quality
I'm not trying to cry foul, but my shirt was not worth the price I paid for it. It was something I could get off the clearance rack at any department store, at a much more reasonable price. After touring one of Eddie Bauer's retail locations, and seeing their products up close, I have to say that they are far below the quality of retailers such as LL Bean. The materials in my shirt are flimsy, and will not allow you to wear it on a fairly cool fall day. It wrinkles easily, and does not provide an excellent level of quality. I compared their slacks with other retailers as well, and found them to be overpriced imitations of other stores' fine products.
Their Creed is False
Outstanding quality and value? This is absolutely untrue, as their quality is less than would be expected for their prices. The prices of their merchandise are a lot higher than other retailers. Forget about buying pants for under $50, and that's even only if you purchase something from their online outlet. I'm not against paying a good amount of money for a quality product, but since Eddie Bauer cannot provide this, I only buy from other retailers.

Final Thoughts
Consider purchasing from other online retailers, unless you like throwing your money into a burning trash bin. My shirt has not held up, and many of my friends have been disappointed with their quality as well. I would recommend competitors such as LL Bean & Cabelas, before even considering this companies website or stores. If you do place an order on their website, be prepared to do without your items for awhile.
