Hoot and Holler: The Feelings of Friendship

Written: Aug 05 '06 (Updated Aug 05 '06)
Pros:Short tale about friendship, connection and feelings for a toddler to understand.
Cons:May have a lot of "Hoots" afterwards.

This easy to read story of two young Owls Hoot (the little one) and Holler (the big one) is vibrantly illustrated and tells a simple tale of friendship and the risks one must sometimes take to stay connected. Both Hoot and Holler are shy and not so forthcoming with their feelings. But a chance separation, followed by some wisdom from Wise Old Owl, teaches them that it’s important to tell someone how you feel about them and to talk about your feelings. In that vein, it’s a nice little introduction to speak to your toddler about feelings.
