I chose Blue Nile to be the place where I purchased my engagement ring for my now wife. I will keep this short a simple for everyone. Blue Nile has some of the best prices you can find in the United States. Since they have no stores around the country, they have no overhead and can sell the diamonds cheaper. So, if you want to just buy a diamond, go to Blue Nile and purchase JUST THE DIAMOND.
The con with Blue Nile is their bands. They sell certified GIA diamonds but their bands are crap! As I have read in other Blue Nile reviews, the bands begin to crack and discolor months after purchase. The white gold band I purchased has now turned a slight gold color. It is no longer white gold. So, this is how Blue Nile scams you is by selling you crappy bands and great diamonds. Nevertheless, you can save $1000's of dollars on the diamond so I guess it kind of makes up for the band. $250 for the white gold band down the drain, but I saved over $1000 on the diamond so I guess it evens out in the end. So, just buy the diamond from Blue Nile WITHOUT a setting!! They will send you just the diamond!!!! Take it to a local jeweler and have them put it in a setting.
