I started with Photoworks when they were Seattle Filmworks. They changed names and I'm still here because the service hasn't changed a bit. From the beginning, I was skeptical about mailing my pictures away to be developed, but I took the chance because the offer said I could get my pictures online. I was so happy with the quality of the prints that I received and the really nice customer service, that I haven't left. I've been using them for a few years now.
Okay, let me explain their offerings: First, it's $8.50 for 15-27 exposures with $2.00 for an extra set of prints. It's $12.50 for 28-40 exposures with $2.50 for an extra set of prints. These prices include replacement film of the same exposure. The film they give you is their own brand. I love the quality of the pictures that result from their film. Usually if you have 200 speed film, they replace with 200 speed (or whatever speed you are using) but if you make a simple note on the top of your order form stating "replace with all 400 speed" they will do that for no extra charge. That's what I did to get all of my 200s to 400. Shipping costs $1.50 per roll for USPS Standard Mail, OR you can use the best option I choose, $3.50 for unlimited rolls via USPS Priority Mail.
When you get your film developed, they send you an email letting you know that they have been posted online, usually about 2 days before you get the film back. You can then go online to their website and look through each roll. On their website you can organize pictures that you select into photo albums, which you can send people the links for. The photo albums contain the pictures that you selected, and you have the option to put captions under them if you want. All of this is included in your processing.
Whenever I had a problem (2 problems in 2 years) they immediately fixed it and offered me extras. My first problem was my own fault. The very first time that I developed my film with them, I made a horrible error. I never checked the box for the size prints I wanted (4x6) so the developing defaulted to 3 1/2 x 5. I forgot this size had even existed! When you go to the local developing places, 4x6 is the default, so you never have to say anything. Well, I received 16 rolls of double prints developed film in the wrong size because I made a mistake! Well, I called them, almost ready to cry. No questions asked, they told me to send the negatives back to them in one of their postage paid envelopes, and they would redevelop them - even though it was my screw up!! I sent the negatives back, they redeveloped 16 rolls of double print in 4x6 and sent them back overnight. They also sent me 5 extra rolls of film a 3 coupons for 1/2 off orders, all for my "inconvenience." Can you believe this? I think it's wonderful. They went out of their way for my stupid error. My second problem was somehow the last picture on the roll didn't make it to me. I called them, got through right away, they sent me my pictures overnight, sent me a coupon for half off the next order, and 4 rolls of film. Not bad for a simple error.
I won't process anywhere else unless I have an emergency and need the film yesterday. I have utilized their photo album option online and have sent many pictures over the last couple of years to people out of state, instead of having to get extra prints to mail. I will continue to go back to them until they go out of business or really do something awful like double the prices. I love Photoworks!
