| anastacya's Full Review: Febreze Air Effects |
Let me point out that around my house, smells come in all shapes, scents, strengths, and more often than not, from many sources.
I burn candles, I spray fabric Febreze, I clean religiously... but that only helps the stationary objects.
Smells that are emitted from biological sources, well, are funky.
I remember a few years ago a product was released that claimed to clean the air, and that stuff reeked. You couldn't smell what you were trying to get rid of, true, but the scent the spray products was God-awful. However, I love Febreze fabric spray, and I figured their air freshener would be just as awesome. I was so wrong.
Without being graphic, this stuff does nothing like the commercial (the one with fish and flowers) advertises. If anything, it does EXACTLY what it claims it doesn't!
My husband has sprayed this in the bathroom, and it may be it is his personal scent or something, but I gag. The Febreze must have this horrid chemical reaction and makes everything smell orangey-putrid. I used to yell at my husband for closing the bathroom door; now, if he sprays that stuff, I beg him to.
For me, the scent isn't citrus. It is reminiscent, but definitely not a distinct orange or lime or lemon. Even when you are spraying it around to freshen a room, not necessarily to get rid of a funky smell in the air, it is awful. The smell will last, too... sometimes what seems forever, but is probably more like 20 minutes.
Price-wise, it costs more than most air fresheners out there, around $3.99. There are two or three other scents, to my recollection, in addition to the Citrus smell. After my experience with this one, however, I seriously doubt I will try any of the others.
From a can design, it activates easily and is rather spiffy looking. That is the only plus to it. It dispenses the product neatly, although it doesn't really mist, more like "rain".
My recommendation? Save yourself a buck or two and buy the cheapo Glade. Sure, the Febreze commercial knocks that stuff, but for me, it covers funky smells entirely and smells pleasant to boot.
