The Bottom Line With NetMD you can record music in high speed. MD beats MP3 players hands down.

The MP3 format has been rapidly growing in popularity, so it's no surprise that you probably have a huge library of mp3s. This is why MiniDisc does mp3 better than mp3 players.

MP3 media is either not available (built in memory only), or is very expensive (upwards of $80). MD media is only about $2 a disc. Also, MDs are durable; they are sealed in a square, plastic case, preventing dust and scratches. Compact Flash Cards, Memory Sicks, etc. are very fragile and can easily break. MD player have better battery life as well with their rechargeable batteries, and can usually hold more music than mp3 media. With MDLP you can store 5 hours and 20 minutes of music on one inexpensive disc. Although MP3 players do not skip, neither do minidisc players with G-Protection and shock absorbing discs. MD players are also very small so they can easily fit in any pocket. MD players are about the same price as MP3 players, but offer so much more. Another pro for MD players are you can record from any source (Computer, portable CD player, stereo, radio, microphone, etc..)

One thing that has been holding MD back, is that you have to record your music in realtime. With new NetMD technology you can now record your MP3s to minidisc at 32x speed. This means that you can record over 5 hours of music onto one minidisc in 10 minutes. The software is just like that of an MP3 player; you drag and drop the files that you want to copy to MD.
