Unreliable Hotel Descriptions and Terrible Customer Service!

Eiks, big mistake. Booked a hotel in NYC for my two daughters that looked presentable on the Orbitz site. Upon arrival, the hotel was dingy, the front door was just a door in a wall with a buzzer to gain entrance. Upon inspection of a smoke filled dingy room we noticed no bathroom and were told it was a shared bath. (We were not comfortable with our 15 year old daughter using a shared bath). We left the hotel and all four of us slept in our room at our hotel. We called Orbitz customer service (for lack of a better term) and were given attitude by the cs rep., and told a supervisor would call. Well, the super called the next day and said we could not get a refund on the unused room because the hotel said we had not shown up and were considered a no show and that our story of inspecting the room was not correct. I called the hotel and spoke to the director of operations who told me we did not show up, a few minutes later after convincing her with details of her establishment, she said it did not matter, we were not getting our $$ back because it states on the orbitz site that it is a shared bath. (Orbitz by now has realized that no where on the site does it say shared bath!) Another call to Orbitz where they admit the shared bath omission but it is up to the hotel. (Orbitz cs rep states they do not take responsibility for hotel descriptions! Let's see, they take money but not responsibility! hmmmm, good gig!) Now another call to the hotel dop and this time she admits that somehow the hotel omitted the shared bath thing when giving Orbitz the description and she cannot understand how it got left out and that she will refund. And yet another call to Orbitz 2 days later to find out when the $$ will be credited and they stated again that it is not the descriptions are not their responsibility and no refund. After urging her to call the hotel she reluctantly calls the dop and comes back on the line to tell me that a credit will be issued in 5-7 days. That has yet to be seen. I travel alot and use other online booking and never has there been a problem. No accountability is the most offensive attitude and the reason I would not use Orbitz again
