AND CAN AIM TO PLEASE,...or not!

In this way, you sound a lot like me. I'm 48 years old and still somewhat of a baby-face in appearance. I imagined you to be considerably younger (going mostly by your photo), but I could be wrong.

And I try to aim to please whenever I can--but I also have a mind of my own and values that won't be compromised! And there will be times when I'll change my plans for somebody else--but I'm not going to do it all the time. The best solution, in fact, would be one that would leave all parties satisfied when possible--but I don't even always aim for the best solution in that respect 100% of the time.

Your review was outstanding for a new writer.

Thanks--but I also hope it's outstanding for a seasoned writer, too, even though I'll have to say that you're always going to run circles around me, because you're way ahead of not only the most average of writers but, also, the outstanding ones. What I've read of you here has really amazed me--and I can see that I don't stand alone in that amazement!!!

Thanks for giving a great amount of backround and keep up the good work.

And thanks to you for the compliment--and I'll do my best!

by the way?

There is the value plus one,
true to word,
a feel too wrong,
yet to good, to be.

there is hunger in the world,
sadness abound,
yearning explosions,
and minds set free.

IF EVER WE BELIEVED,
WE HAVE TAKEN THE TIME ,
TO SIGH AND BREATH...........

What does this mean?

I'm going to recopy this prosetry and get into that in a second. . .

Again, you are a well written attribute to this team of informers.

Thanks! So are you--MANIFOLD!!!

Russ.

I see you prefer "Russ" instead of "Rusty" when I address you or mention you--so that's how I'll address you/refer to you from now on, unless you tell me differently. It fits--you remind me of a Russ more than you do a Rusty.

Okay! On to interpreting what you wrote!

I looked at it yesterday night when I got back from Indianapolis, and I saw a lot of lovely thoughts, but they just weren't going together as a poem for me.

Since I was feeling rather moody and upset at the time--as well as brain-tired--I thought that it was me instead of your poem, so I decided to sleep on it and see what it looked like when I was awake.

And it looked the same--which isn't to say that this is bad. It isn't. To me, though, it doesn't look like one meaningful poem as much as it looks like meaningful poem fragments.

So I will recopy them and address each fragment individually, telling you how it makes me feel/what it makes me think of.

Here goes. . .

There is the value plus one,
true to word,
a feel too wrong,
yet to good, to be.

I'm not sure why you've put commas where you have in this one. This part of your poem seems very fragmented as far as making sense as a message.

As far as making sense as raw emotion, it makes a lot of sense, because you're, at one point, holding promise-keepers in high esteem. At another point, it almost sounds as if you're talking about a forbidden relationship--perhaps, because one (or both) people are married.

In a sense, this would all go together, if a reader, such as myself, were to interpret it as someone talking about the value of fidelity, even when the temptation to yield to good (but wrong) feelings is there.

there is hunger in the world,
sadness abound,
yearning explosions,
and minds set free.

When you start out with this fragment, it sounds as if you're covering two different issues--one being the human condition at its worst and the other being love dreams being fulfilled.

Another interpretation that ties the two together would be if the hunger and sadness were caused by a yearning to love and be loved--and how it's so freeing when this finally happens!

Or you could interpret it to mean that you've looked at the tragedies in the world and suddenly feel empowered to make a difference in some way.

If you go with the romantic interpretation, you could link it to the first fragment and come up with a situation where something has been holding you back from loving another person, but finally convince yourself that it's okay to feel as you do--and even okay to love.

Now, I'm only interpreting the poetry and not putting my stamp-of-approval on adultery, because I have no stamp-of-approval for adultery (only an understanding that it does happen and the wherefores and whys re: why it might in some cases).

But this poem (the first two fragments) could be about a situation where one or both partners are married but decide not to let that get in the way of acting on their feelings, right or wrong.

On the other hand, it could be something of a more wholesome nature. Here are some examples:

1. Two people who live hundreds--even thousands--of miles apart who have met over the Internet. Their practical side tells them not to even think about it--but their hearts win out.

2. People who think they have known each other too short of a time--or have developed feelings for another person too soon after the death of one or both of their partners, a divorce, etc.--to "really" be in love. But finally decide that they are.

3, People who might find themselves falling for someone of a different race and/or background or with a considerable age-difference. At first, they say, "I'm not touching this!" But, then, they find out that it really doesn't matter.

A little joke here that's told around Mammoth Cave.

There was this woman who was very verbal in telling family and friends that there wasn't a man on the face of this earth she would marry. Then she fell--and HARD--for some guy.

They ended up getting married in an area of Mammoth Cave known as The Methodist Church so that she could still keep her vow that she wouldn't marry a man on the face of this earth!

I take the story with a grain of salt (though I guess it COULD have actually happened, but it's still pretty funny.

IF EVER WE BELIEVED,
WE HAVE TAKEN THE TIME ,
TO SIGH AND BREATH...........

I love this!!! It's so true!!!

We breathe automatically, even if we've never sighed in our lives.

We need to believe in something, though, in order to sigh.

There are so many ways to sigh.

We can sigh in awe when we believe in God and look at His wonderful creation.

We can sigh with longing when we fall in love and with pleasure when that love is fulfilled.

We can sigh with disappointment when our dreams don't come true--or seem to be taking their sweet time at getting there.

Now that I've taken your poem apart and have examined each part, it doesn't seem so fragmented.

Let me put it back together with what I see if the most likely interpretation when it's seen as one piece:

Just when love seems so not-meant-to-be, it suddenly becomes meant-to-be, and you feel that emotion to the very depth of your being where sighs are made!!!

Actually, you can also go with still another interpretation of this poem given as a whole:

You have a dream that seems so right to you, but there's no possible way--or so you think--of this dream ever coming true. Just when you're about to give up on this dream, a way is opened to you, and you're simply awestruck as to how it's all come together!

Anyway, this is what I've gotten out of your words. That doesn't mean that this is what you were feeling when you wrote them. You could have had something else in mind entirely. I would be interested in knowing what inspired you to write these words! =)

Entertaining, well-written, enticing. 2 of my kids are film-makers (though not professionally), so I try to keep alert to entertaining indies.

Thanks for adding me to your WOT.

Your review was wonderful. I'm going to send it to all of the cast members that I possibly can. By the way, there are some other Epinionators that were involved in this production: Riley0623 (She played Mindy), Notguerrero (she played Meghan) ShaunB2000 (He played Greg) and Aaronr99 (he played Danny). Thank you so much for putting up this review.

As for those interested in purchasing it, it's only a mere $8!
