Thank God that it's over. We'll rejoice if 2002 is half as bad.

I'm glad there's someone else out there that noticed John Hiatt's album. "Everybody Went Low" was on my list for best single until Josh Joplin came to mind. The first four songs on Hiatt's new album rank up there with the best four song stretch on any album last year...

Thanks for coming by and reading. Take it easy!

Thanks a bunch Andrew... And thanks for the recommendations too. Unfortunately, Ash, Muse, and the Manics fall under that UK curse in America. They may as well not exist over here for the (non) press that they get.

Thanks for coming by and dropping one in the comment box, I appreciate it.

I have to agree with what you have here. (I still owe my write-off thing on this topic.) So maybe I'll just write "Ditto what afterglow wrote!". John Hiatt certainly bears mention and it was great to hear Sonny Landreth playing with him again. 2001 was a terrible year for a lot of us but it was good to hear at least some music that made it bearable. cheers

Although you clearly didn't come across my favourite albums of the year - Origin of Symmetry by the gloriously loopy Muse and Know Your Enemy by the Manic Street Preachers, who successfully rejected their previous chart-topping success to return to being the industry's most hated band.

Ash also made a great job of returning to the charts in the UK by the simple expedient of touring absolutely everywhere for a solid year. My sister saw them in Portsmouth, December 2000. I saw them in Birmingham, December 2001. Hard work paid off.

So, yeah, totally check out Free All Angels, Origin of Symmetry and Know Your Enemy

That's cool, it would have been kind of creepy had I hit on 100%. Just a thought. Thanks for reading.
