Actually, not a bad list. But, the omission of Spinal Tap is horrendous ... as is the omission of its "urban" sibling, Fear of a Black Hat.

But I am not here to quibble with the fairer reviewrs. Instead, I just want to suggest a few for you. Along with the above two, consider:

1/ The Great Rock n Roll Swindle It's the freaking Sex Pistols!
2/ Repo Man Not a rock movie, per se, but a kick ass soundtrack!
3/ Tapeheads ditto
4/ The Wall If you have seen it, its omission is unforgivable
5/ The Unheard Music A documentary about X!!!
6/ Decline of Western Civilization Punk rock in Ellay in the late 70's/early 80's (you can even see the Monkey for a split second in the Fear crowd).

There are others, but this is a good list to get you started.

Yeah, we used to live in the same building on 9th St off 3rd Avenue. Rode the elevator with him a few times though is all the encounter I ever had with him. Wish I said Hi one of those times.

As far as rock movies go, Almost Famous is still on top in my book. The only thing better is the real version, or what is closer to what Cameron really wanted the movie to be. The bootleg edition (directors cut) a 2 DVD set, the movie Almost Famous is about 35 minutes longer. The bonus footage and extra Lester Bangs material is outstanding.

For the record I have not seen Spinal Tap so I guess that makes two people that have never seen it.

Oh that movie makes me homesick! It's so early to mid-90's. How can you not love it?

You know what? This is embarrassing, but I've actually never SEEN Spinal Tap. (hanging my head in shame). I had a strange sort of feeling that I should have included it on my list anyway, but I just can't be sure til I see it for myself.

Looks like I've got a new movie to check out as well.

Rock n' Roll Creation (Reply to this comment)

No Spinal Tap? My goodness. Some of these ones that I haven't seen must be very good indeed for the creators of 'Dobly' sound and 'Intravenous de Milo' to miss the list.

I have new films to track down. Yippee!

I'm not sure if it's called American Hot Wax, doesn't look right, but read my 10 Non-Holiday Movies review around Christmas for the name and brief description...These sound great, too. Some I've watched.
