The Bottom Line These are my favorite movies, and my opinions on why they are the best.

This is a really hard epinions to write. While I have a lot of favorite movies, putting them in order including only my favorite 10 is really difficult, but here they are.

10. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
-An amazing movie that appears to just be a martial arts movie on the surface, but has much more depth. A great cast of actors make the movie believable despite obvious wire-fu. The action in the movie is simply stunning, but the characters are what make this movie so incredible.

9. Hard Boiled
-The last movie John Woo and Chow Yun-Fat made together. This movie has the best action scenes ever seen in a movie. The gun fights are over-the-top, but still seem believable when you watch it. No movie has ever come close to the action scenes in this movie. The plotline is fairly cliche, but this isn't making my list because of the story.

8. Ghost in the Shell
-A great sci-fi movie that asks important questions for our future. It has some fairly philosophical questions about what makes us human, mixed in with some amazing action and some of the best artwork ever seen in an animated movie.

7. Alien/Aliens
-Okay, so I'm cheating a little by including both of these as one, but I can't decide which one I like more. Alien was a great horror film, filled with suspense and amazing designs for the sets. Aliens, unlike most sequels, was very different from the original and has more of a gung-ho feeling with it, but it still has its fair share of suspense. Any fan of sci-fi movies has to see these.

6. Raiders of the Lost Ark
-Classic adventure movie with everything you could ask for. Great acting, great story, great action. This is a movie you can watch over and over again, and I look forward to the Indiana Jones DVD box set so I can do that without worrying about wearing out my tapes.

5. Monty Python and the Holy Grail
-Funniest movie ever made. Though if you aren't laughing pretty early in the movie, it probably isn't the movie for you. For those of you with an odd sense of humor, you should love this movie.

4. Seven Samurai
-An amazing piece of cinematography, this movie has an amazingly realistic setting, believable and lifelike characters, and a good plot, along with revolutionary film making techniques for its time. This movie holds your attention throughout, even though it is over three hours.

3. Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Rings
-Great interpretation of a classic book. While I was disappointed by a few changes, overall it was an excellent movie. The characters felt human, and most of the amazing special effects were subtle and didn't scream for attention like in the Star Wars prequel trilogy and the "Special Edition" versions of the original trilogy.

2. Star Wars: Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back
-By far the best Star Wars movie released. Dark themes, and surprising twists made this an excellent movie. Surprisingly, I didn't like Star Wars when all of the other kids my age started watching it, and I didn't watch it until I was a teenager, but I will never forget this movie. Unfortunately, George Lucas will never release the original version on DVD, but only the ruined "special edition."

1. The Killer
-Simply an amazing movie. While the story line might be somewhat cliche, the characters are well developed and John Woo brings forth some important themes like honor and friendship. And no one can make action scenes like John Woo. (Make sure it is subtitled)
