The Bottom Line ok... don't go killing me you hardcore punk rock fans. Maybe I haven't been in the scene as long as some.. but i really do love the music.
ok... so here I am stuck on some desert island. I really don't think i've ever heard an album that I wouldn't get sick of after an extended period of listening to them nonstop. But if that album did exist, it would so be punk. Well... here are the punk albums that I would bring onto my deserted Island... to listen to for months and months. There'll probably be some ska on here and maybe a hardcore album or two.. who am i kidding.. there won't be any hardcore. Anyway.. here goes. (not in any particular) 1. Less Than Jake- Hello Rocview This was the first punk cd I ever got and I remember s well the first time I listened to it. I immediately fell in love with the fast beat and the horns. Less Than Jake has been one of my favorite bands for years and no top ten listof mine would be complete without them. 2. Down By Law- All Scratched Up I just got this album a little while ago and have been listening to it nonstop ever since. In my opinion.. which is of course what all of this is... there is nothing to not like about this record. This guy has a sexy voice, the music kicks a*s, and the words actually have meaning. 3. Punk-O-Rama- volume 2 This cd doesn't have one band on it that i don't like. It has bands ranging from the descendats to bad religion to me first ndthe gimme gimmes. Some songs are harder than others, but on the whole this album rocks. 4. Bad Religion-The Gray Race Again.. i must comment on the greatness of this guys voice and the words. The first time i listened to this cd Pity the Dead and Punk Rock Song made me an imediate Bad Relgio fan. Bad Religion will always be tops in my book. period. 5. Reel Big Fish-Turn the Radio Off Ok.. so some people wouldn't consider this punk at all... its such a good cd. I mean, I knew this album was keeper when there's a song that goes: "I never thought it'd end like this just because I've got no tits I'll shave my legs I'll wear a bra, i'd nearly cut my penis off for you. 6. Dead Kennedys-Fresh Fruit Fruit for Rotting Vegtables ok.. time for some old school. What punk list would be complete without old school punk, and what better old school band than the Dead Kennedys. Starting off with perhaps the best DK song ever, Kill the Poor, this albums is one their best ever. 7. Unwritten Law Jeez... whoever this Cailin is.. she's one lucky girl. I mean, what a sweet song. Anyway... I really don't know to say about Unwritten Law. I don't know about you all.. but even my hardcore misfits loving boyfriend can't help but like Unwritten Law. 8. Operation Ivy-Unity This is practically my most favorite cd. This 23 song album has everything: horns, punk riffs, a loud punk singer, and is basically just a kick a*s album. 9. Goldfinger-Hang-Ups This was the first concert I ever went to and have loved goldfinger ever since. There are so many songs I love on this album and every one I can relate to. I need to know is the sweetest song ever. Just a happy little emo album. 10. The Hippos-Heads Are Gonna Roll; This cd just makes me happy. What more can I say. Whenever I hear it I just want to sing along.. and believe me... I do. Again... this is ska.. but still a great album. 11. Rancid-Lets Go ok.. i know there aren't supposed to be 11 albums. But i couldn't forget about Rancid and there really weren't any I could bring myself to kick off the list. What can I say about Rancid... great band, great album, that's basically it in a nutshell. |
