I am a heavy internet surfer, and search a variety of items. I have found the metasearch utility of ixquick.com to be a no-nonsense, no frills answer to my queries. Sometimes I try my search at other engines, and come back to ixquick.com to find the results I need. This weekend I even found the lyrics, with guitar chords for "The Happy Song" at ixquick.com, as the second result. The reason ixquick is so effective, is that it is a meta search engine. This means that the meta tags are searched for relevant terms, and sites that do not have the right words in the meta tags, simply don't get returned. For any given term, I am served dozens, not hundreds, of results, often less than 50. I have often found no results, which is sometimes helpful to me in determining what might be good terms to focus writing meta tags on. I was glad to see that ixquick did begin to offer paid sponsor spots, glad because since it does not have the fluff of many major search sites, advertising money is better spent, and rates are not as high.  |
