. . . of being the only review I have ever printed out and displayed on the fridge to reference.

Lovely review, from one Canuck to another.

And as always, both entertaining and informative. I always thought plain old vinegar was the solution to skunk problems, but this sounds better. Luckily, I won't have to try it out; the little striped stinkers don't live in Alaska. Now if there were just a simple remedy for PORCUPINE quills... Thanks! Kristin

Another great skunk deterrent is . . . Mothballs (Reply to this comment)
by viper1963
Out here in California, skunks were as common as cats wandering the hillside above Pasadena where I used to live.

It got to the point where the great smell of the skunk never really bothered me. But one day I threw out a box of old moth balls and I saw those pesty skunks run after taking a whiff of that stuff!

Worked for me!

While I honestly feel this review deserves a Very Helpful rating, I also dearly hope I will never actually confirm that by my own experience. :-)

...reading this one. What fun. I was just thinking about skunks yesterday and wondering what to do about them. We do not have tomato juice around either!

Thanks for a great review!

Retirement? Rumours of my retirement were great exaggerated. I should know.

I started those rumours. ;)

I hope you never need this remedy either Maryanne! I know the lice dilemma you speak of, I went through that horrible ordeal two summers ago: tea tree oil works great for that problem, much better than those killer pesticides found in OTC concoctions.

Cheers and best wishes for a pest free summer!

And here, all this time, I thought the best odor remover was tomato juice! (Reply to this comment)

And I learned that from a Rugrats cartoon :)

I've only had two run in's with skunks in my life--once a friend's two year old got skunked when we were vacationing. The second time we drove over some recent skunk road kill on a country road.

We have woods behind our house, but no skunks that I know of.

But the work you have to go through to remove the odor reminds me of my one and only ordeal with children's head lice--I was told one of my sons' friends had lice right after they had spent the entire morning in my basement role-playing and wearing different costumes and hats! What a nightmare!

Thanks for your advice.

You know Eli, we are simply terrible at this thing called retirement...though I believe I held out a little longer than you (grin).

I will fill you in... though you better go get an Xtra large Timmy's for this one!

Cheers to the one I could never call "idiot".

My Brenda is back!!!!

Funny that you have skunk problems because I was dealing with raccoons living in my shed. Huge critter, too, but I can't blame the mother for protecting and shelter her three young ones. Still, I had to give them the eviction notice. I know, so sad.

Hmmm... me am rambling

Missed you, darling. Keep me posted on what's been going on.

I wish I had this last summer when pepe le pue danced with my dogs! I used tomato soup, and everything I could get my hands on, and the smell didn't really go away for a week...it was horrible!!! I'll keep this article in mind...the little fuzzy ones have been around lately. I might need your advice! jamie s.
