.. with all the SCADS hooplah I totally goofed up on this write-off, although I suppose my SCADS review could count as a double submission for both since it is on a German band. :)
Alas, I'm glad I came across your writings (although not through this write-off, funny enough).

Hey there fellow Chinese man!
Thanks for the comments, and yeah, I understand what you mean by the difference in some of the dishes (still darn good though!).

Chris,
Fabulous work my friend. I happen to be Mandarin (my girlfriend is Cantonese though) so the dishes we have are slightly different. Though the stew pork you mentioned is definitely one of my faves.
Wish you the best. The recipes are definitely detailed and palatable.

Kung Hei Fat Choi to you too! Yes, I can understand how much your parents would miss Shanghai crab, because my brother really misses the taste of Shanghai crab entering his mouth (he's studying in Minnesota right now).
Thanks for the comments.

truthfully, having been brought up in the US, I have to admit that we eat Nin Gou all year long (the white kind with cabbage and shredded pork)...and my parents are from Shanghai so they always talk about how much they miss the crab.
great review,

This food is only given during the New Year, but if you want to find out more on Chinese cuisine, I've written other reviews on different types of Chinese cuisines here at Epinions. Don't have the URLs, but I'm sure you'll be able to find them in the "What You Should Know About Chinese Cuisine" category.
Thanks for the comments.

Yes, Paul, I did read your narration of the Arsenal Tottenham clash earlier this season. It's a pity Wright screwed it up for us!
Thanks for the comments.

Happy New Year! Geez, I love to say that. (Reply to this comment)

Really enjoyed this informative review on Chinese food. I get the feeling that some of the stuff I've been ordering isn't really Chinese food at all. I'll be putting my local Chinese food restaurants on their guards with my new found knowledge of the cuisine.
Thanks,
Gasman

Hey Finn!
Thanks for allowing me to take part in this writeoff! I enjoyed being part of it and all...
About the football thread at the Nest, I have sadly had very little time to visit the nest (I have 3 cousins over, and I have to spend most of my hours taking care of them), and I'll be back at the nest as soon as I can (I promise I'll be back to talk more about how great Arsenal are *evil grin*.
It surprises me that an anti-Arsenal fan would own an Arsenal jacket....and even more confusing that her dad was an Arsenal fan and that she isn't.
Hmmmm....
Anyway, thanks very much for the comment and again, thanks for allowing me to take part in the writeoff.
See you later!

these two also happen to be Liverpool fans...
Why does this sound like a thread? *grin*
So, cripper boy who doesn't need to remind he's from Hong Kong *wink*, I meant to tell you this long time ago, but only now that I had to wear that jacket I thought of it. So, yeah, *grin*, I have an Arsenal jacket. And funny, it used to be my dad's, now it's mine. I'm no fan and never have been one, and I don't mind wearing the jacket at all if I really really have to, of course. Hmm, there's a charming twist.
I did not know anything by the Asian New Year's, so it's so totally cool that we have so many writers from Asia writing about it for this write-off [oh, you mean it's my write-off? *evil grin*]. Thank you for taking part in it, I'm kind of wondering what stopped the discussion of English football in the Nest...
