Well looky looky, here I am with my own mini-controversy a brewin' in my comments! Tempest, tea kettle. Tea kettle, tempest. I think you two will get along just fine. :)
David: That comment means much more to me, thinking back to your defense of your thong. And I wouldn't say I had to defend it; the eleven other ratings are doing that for me. Everyone's entitled to their own opinions. Some of those opinions are just wro... less informed than others.
Kelly: I'll come over to play, but only as long as I get to be Kopaka.
Mary: I'm glad I'm not in the wrong category. The only other place I could see that this might remotely fit would be under the 6-pack set...

Yo,
I had to think about it and let is stew for a bit. Like I suggested if there was a "what to know about bionicles" of course it would be MH, even.
But, this isn't a case of a specific product review or bionicle (singular) placed in a catch-all category, instead its an overview of a line of toys put out by LEGO.
I think its fine, and am giving VH because its very informative about LEGO products.

I honestly don't consider your review "off topic." For example, people were being dinged for writing reviews under "What should I know about Johnson & Johnson" and only discussing one sample bottle of body wash. There was no mention of any other product or about the company itself. They did this because there was no place to review the body wash and this way they could write their review, make some pennies and beat the system. For that, there has been a crack down.
You obviously know your stuff about the Bionicle line of toys, made by LEGO. I see that you are covering an entire line of toys that LEGO manufactures.
By the way, my 7 year old would LOVE to have you over for a playdate, just let me know your schedule! :)

Hey yogore,
Everyday you give me another reason to be glad I added you to my WOT. That was a very well thought out defense of your review. I think it's silly that you were even put into a position where you had to defend it.

Thank you very much, bonnie, for the rating. And Mary for pointing me at the Bionicle listings in the first place (I truly am working my way through all the ones I have, and in their proper categories--the reviews are written, but I don't want to swamp the servers or the readers).
However, nan and melissa? While a search on the word Bionicle does indeed bring up an entire list of products, this review is in the correct place, and it won't be moving unless a "What you should know about Lego Bionicle" category appears. Until then, this review covers something that you should know about Legos; specifically, that they have released a new line called "Bionicle," and what that comprises. Not any individual pieces in that line, simply an overview. I could do the same for Lego's Castle, Western or Space sets.
I'm not going to tell you that in Dutch, "Lego" means "good play," or that the pieces are easy to step on in the dark--I like to give my readers credit for at least basic knowledge. What would talking down to them gain me?
So, is my review informative? Did it teach you things you didn't know previously? Is it about the subject at hand? Those are the criteria by which epinionators are charged to rate, and it seems the answer to each is now a better-informed 'yes.' I look forward to your adjusted rerating...

About my rating (Reply to this comment)
by bonniesayers
I first noticed the Off Topic ratings and cruised through this category and saw your first part of this series did not receive this sort of rating nor did the others under this heading.
If you go to the Beauty area you will find many under what to know about a certain cosmetic and the member has written on one item. This seems no different to me.
I see this as helpful for anyone wanting to know about Legos.

Yo -
This overview is interesting and I'm gonna have to think about the rating. Its not product specific but more of an overview so I'm not sure if its officially "Off Topic" or not. If there was a topic "whaddya need to know about bionicles" it would better placed, ya know?
Anyways- I hope you've seen but there are A TON of bionicles in the database already and most haven't been reviewed yet. If you want to write about ones not in the database the capability for us to add will be coming soon down the road. But here's a listing of the ones already listed:

About my rating..... (Reply to this comment)
by melissasrn
I think the general concensus now is that categories such as this one are designed for information about the Lego brand itself and not one specific type of toy they produce. Please forgive my rating if I am wrong here.....
Hopefully as soon as Category Leads can begin adding products, I'm sure MaryTara or LisaJ will be more than happy to add the new Bionicles found in the 2002 line if you email them.
