Pros: Occasional (rare) good shot of a favorite celeb. I got it for free.
Cons: Corny, bogus stories. Editors with LOUSY fashion sense and no morals.
The Bottom Line: Only got it because of a freebie subscription. Senseless muck that will make you wonder why they're still in print.

| soulkissed2003's Full Review: Star Magazine |
A few months back I was able to obtain a free subscription to "Star" magazine. I had heard about the magazine, seen the cheesy TV commercials. Well, let me tell you, the magazine lives up to its reputation of being completely void of anything intelligent, helpful or TRUE.
About the only nice thing about the magazine is the monthly free prizes, which you can sign up for on the website -- you don't even need the mag itself for that.
From cover to cover, you'll find photos of your favorite stars, and many you've never, ever heard of! Who are some of these people, anyway? If the photos aren't doctored by computer imaging, the editors pick some of the worst possible shots of celebs (on purpose) just to make them look bad. I mean, if Britney Spears has tomato sauce on her white skirt, it just means either she or her baby spilled some food on it at lunch. The world will NOT be ending over this, people! Wow, she's human -- can you imagine??
What gets me, too, is that they contradict their OWN stories! One issue will say one thing, then the next will totally say the opposite. Yet each time it's printed as if it's 100% accurate gospel truth. Or they'll say they were the first to break a "story", when it's obvious that is a lie. They never name their "sources" who are always "close to" whoever they are bashing at the moment. Besides being smutty and mean, it's just lousy reporting.
There's usually a spread or two of women dressed to the nines at various award shows, and the magazine writers gush about how great they look. But really, some of these photos are the worst ones because you look at the dresses and think, what was she thinking? And, how can she wear that with a smile on her face? I think I'd be crying if I had to wear most of those outfits.
When I do pick this up, it's only to get away from reality for awhile, and do something completely mindless. My life is stressful, so occasionally I have to let my brain shut down -- this will do it every time. If anything it's good entertainment only because it's hilarious how ridiculous a piece of pulp this magazine really is, and you sure can find plenty to laugh at in what they choose to publish.
