OK, let me fess up here. I'm a woman, yes. I like to shop. I make compulsive purchases. There I said it!! So, since I have this tendency, as do many of you out there, I also receive many a catalog. One of those just happens to be from Lillian Vernon.
A Little Tidbit About The Company
Lillian Vernon has been around now for about 54 years. They are a leading national catalog and online retailer that sales all kinds of products such as household items, toys, fashion accessories, personalized products, holiday items and the list goes on!! They also have 5 catalogs: Lillian Vernon, Favorites, Lilly's Kids, Personalized Gifts and a sale catalog.
There, that's it I won't dull you any further with all the mumbo-jumbo of the company itself.
How I Met Lillian
Back in 1995 while doing a clinical for college, my instructor had the coolest little gadget on her key. A little light that fit over the top portion of her key and with the press of a button, bingo!! there was a little green light to help one find a key hole. Pretty neat I thought. So I had to inquire. Of course that's when she introduced me to Lillian Vernon. I was hooked immediately and ordered quite often. My ordering habits changed from catalog to navigating the Lillian website. I've purchased many items over the years from, those little key lights to Easter Baskets and clocks to personalized tote bags. I've always been quite pleased with my purchases, with the quality of the items and the shipping speed.
WOOPS, LILLIAN
Now I get to talk about customer service!! I've only had one mishap with a product from Lillian Vernon and that was with a personalized tote bag that I ordered for my daughter. Her name was embroidered crooked and the zipper tab was stitched to the inside of the bag where the embroidery was. Totally unacceptable, but I honestly didn't think Lillian Vernon would do anything about it. Boy was I wrong. I called customer service, spoke with a wonderfully nice lady and was promised another bag. No questions asked!! I figured I would need to ship the tote back to Lillian Vernon, but I was told I could keep it as well as the new bag!! What a deal...2 bags for the price of 1!! Now for me, that's customer service!!

My Overall Thoughts
It has been 10 years since I was first introduced to Lillian Vernon and in 10 years I've only been dissatisfied the one time with the above mentioned tote bag and that problem was resolved and I was a happy customer in the end. Overall I've been very pleased with all my purchases whether it's been through a catalog order, online or even at one of their outlet stores. Lillian Vernon carries some really unique items and at what I consider to be modest prices. Every time I've ordered I have received my items in a reasonable amount of time, in other words, no great delays and no missing items.
Ah yes, we just received our Lilly Kids catalog in the mail and my daughter has picked out her Halloween costume, very cute costumes I must add!! Guess I'll be visiting the Lillian Vernon website/online store very soon!!
So in ending, I noticed that quite a few people out there have had bad luck with this company. Unfortunately that happens. I'll probably have my bad day with them, but until then I'll keep singing praise about this wonderfully unique catalog/online store.
