If you’ve read any of my others, you know what I mean. Now on to the review. I just had the Dish 500 installed and the dish itself works GREAT! The TV comes quick, comparable to cable when changing channels and there is no snow or FUZZ. I would say so much better than the Digital Cable I had.
Let’s move on to the receiver. Great product the model 2400 is. Well, that’s if it works right. As a note, if you are NEW to Dish players RECEPTION and SOUND should be PERFECT. If not something is wrong. Dish warrantees their products for one full year from purchase. (There are other plans available) Thank GOD, in my case. My receiver was broke from the day I got it. Little to the Installers knowledge I was NOT supposed to be getting a loud annoying eeeeeeek sound when I changed channels. So I called Dish and they sent me a new one in 3 days. (Drawback, could’ve been overnighted, mmm should’ve) But, hey. The problem was fixed when I got the new receiver.
As a little note (another) please make certain the person who installs your system is reputable. You can choose to install yourself but I being very unmechanical chose to have them do it. Oh, yeah it WAS FREE. After the installer rescheduled 4, yep I said 4 times he finally came out to my home. It took him 3 hours to do the job. Hint, hint. He noticed the sound on my TV and told me that it was my television. Okay, fine. Next, when he called to have our Satellite connected to Dish Network he stated that they were no longer running the FREE INSTALL. This is GREAT. After rescheduling 4 times, taking 3 hours for you to set the thing up, now you tell me the promotion is over. UGH!
Anyway, that red haired geek (you can tell I’m mad right?) was ALSO wrong on the sound I was getting when changing channels. I didn’t find this out until I called Dish Network. Which in all respects I should have called them BEFORE that little fruitcake left my home. But all over can’t change it; I filled a complaint with Dish Network. Hopefully, they will REMOVE his status from being a REP.
So as far as the Dish itself, works great. I am in a very thick treed location (woods) and the Weather is awful (Central NEW YORK) and I have had NO problems. The receiver’s works great and so do the remotes. The remotes as well are capable of multi tasking ans light up to show you which device you are controlling. They work well; they would be GREAT if they could shoot the infrared beam off the wall. I have had some remotes of mine do this. So you really have to point them at the receiver. Other than that, no complaints.
In summary, watch out for the red haired geek, make sure your equipment and signal from the dish are working properly BEFORE the install person leaves your home. If there are any problems call Dish. Your sound and reception should be great and I can guarantee you will be satisfied!
