I was searching for the Canon PowerShot S3 IS on a price comparison website and came across this product at USA Photo Nation at a very good price - $269 plus shipping. So I went to the USA Photo Nation website and I put the item in my shopping cart. I input all of the information for shipping and payment and confirmed the $269 price. But AFTER I hit the submit button the price changed to $310.
I immediately sent an email to the Company (it was after hours) and did not hear back from them. After two days, I decided to call the company. I was informed that the item I was interested in purchasing was a Chinese version of this camera. All of the markings on the camera would be in Chinese and there would be no instructions for use nor would a warranty be included. You can imagine how upset I was.
The customer service man tried to get me to upgrade my purchase to the USA model for an additional $100 and I told him that that was not acceptable. With this man on the phone, I went back to the website and plugged in the information for the camera. In no place was it disclosed that this was a Chinese version. When I asked the man on the phone about this, he said, it was in the Companies policies section at the top of their web page to sell foreign cameras at a significant discount. I asked him to show me where this was in the Policies section, and he said he did not have time. (Later on, I searched through policies and could not find this disclosure. The only thing I found buried in this section was the following comment: "There will be instances where the manufacturer will offer us packages that do not come with any peripherals or accessories, in this case the peripherals or accessories may be purchased separately.")
At this point, the man realized that this conversation was not going the way he wanted. He started saying that he had to get off the phone. Did I want to upgrade to the USA package or not? He really had to go. I told him that I wanted to cancel my order. He told me that it was done and hung up on me. I called my credit card company and, thankfully, they have not charged me for the merchandise. So, for now, it appears that I am just out for the time I have wasted on them and all of this nonsense. Hopefully, others will learn from my mistake.
I WOULD THINK TWICE ABOUT RECOMMENDING THIS WEBSITE TO ANY ONE. THEY ARE A BUNCH OF THIEVES.
