Opinion Summary
The Nikon MB-D200 vertical grip is Nikon's poorest effort yet.
by jvandegr | Sep 22 '06
Pros: Doubles D200 battery power, adds essential vertical shooting capabilities.
Cons: Slippery surface, questionable build quality, over-priced, poor handling compared to F100 grip.

I'm glad this wasn't just another "rave" for spending more money on accessories.

You point out some good reasons to own it...and some reasons we'll be disappointed when we do.

Fair enough...call it like it is!

I have this grip and don't agree or disagree entirely with you. Still, I think it is suitable for the role for which it was designed.

Like a lot of Nikon accessories, it is over-priced.

I just bought another grip for my second F100 and it was the last one available in the store. I believe that proves that Nikon is serious about not supporting its now discontinued film SLR line. So, with that in mind, I am glad I dropped another $200 to get the grip.

Well, not glad, but satisafied that I managed to find a new one almost a year AFTER Nikon announced the discontinuance of the camera.

I am looking forward to more camera and lens reviews from you.

Happy New Year!
