To prevent tantrums (Reply to this comment)

I avoid Target between the hours of 1-3:30 pm, especially if my youngest hasn't had his nap.

I avoid the grocery store after meals, because a muffin won't cut it and the chocolate looms large.

I smiled when I read your review. Thank you for sharing.

LoL Tom!

I have a way of making my mom & dad join the sites I join! (= LoL! My mom has become way more addicted than I am- and probably knows more about Epinions than I do. My dad doesn't get on as often...

My sisters & brother joined too but never really did much with it...

...Did your very extended family get the 'group rate' when you all signed up here !?

I just love reading all the various stories from all you guys and gals...

Talk about the family that plays together stays together...:-)

Like many have already said about this essay...Been there, done that!
Sounds like you handled it beautifully!!
(Or as 'beautifully' as possible!!)

Not MY baby girl, whom is also the "Queen of Daddy's Girls". I can tell you from first hand experience, Be afraid, be VERY afraid of teen toria....but also KNOW this...she will be a fantastic adult.
A very strong woman who will know what she wants and goes for it!! You are doing a great job in your role as "MOM", Mija, and I'm very proud of you.
Daddy (Payso)
BTW...it's a "dapon"

Thanks Jo! LoL! I know I am in for it with this one too because she can lie right to your face and is SO believable. Most of the time I would believe her if I didn't have the actual PROOF of what she is saying is lie. I am sure she has gotten away with a lot already. Toria as a teenager scares me!!!

.... I used to watch these scenes in horror!! Now I have a 15 year old son and have weathered many tantrums, which always took place in public!!

Not allowing your daughter to have gum taught your daughter there are consequences for her behavior....something children forget when they become teenagers!! (Remember....they use "being cute" in public more as teenagers)

..that mine are grown too!!! I remember the days.......it is really surprising that our little 'Chalathra' is still alive! She was, as she said "the queen of temper tantrums". She is is as an adult a wonderful person, that I deeply admire. Guess that strong will of hers was worth it!

You did a great job with this review Sweetie...and an even greater job in teaching Toria. I know that giving in would be so easy, but you did what was best for your daughter in the long run. I am proud of you!....love you Melissa....mom/kath

Ahhh---you will see someday if you ever have children. It is not necesarily bad parenting... Crazy as it is- these kids we are having are humans and are each their own self with their own personality...

Happy Epinioning!

Mine is grown, but there were several scream fests, let's see who will win out stand offs, and a lot of stares. To all this I say I don't care. There's hope I have a 28 year old son, who is respectful, and rarely pitches a fit anymore (smile) You done good remember that.

what's so funny for me, is just being 23 and seeing parents in stores with kids acting like that, I always wonder why they let them act that why, I suppose I never thought about how a good parent actually felt - embarrassed and angry.

Priceless! Burg or city, I feel sorry for the parents when the kids lose it in public.

something sounds awfully familiar with this scene! :)

And as far as those nearby who were watching the show, trust me, they have to know what you were feeling at the time! Whenever I see a mother really stressed out while out, I quietly walk up next to her and let her know that she's not the only one! The way I figure it, misery loves company! Right?

I'm responding to your comment on my Camry article, but thought you'd be more likely to read it here! Just wanted to say thanks for the positive reinforcement! I have always liked to write, so this is proving to be a kind of therapy for me. Betsy

I rate VH because it IS VH to know that you're not the only one! I'm willing to bet that the people who were staring were either childless or relating! :-)
