The Bottom Line You will very rarely be disappointed buying Dell. A reliable, well built machine for a reasonable price. I plan on getting 4-5 years from this PC.
I have owned Zeos, Micron and HP PC's before my recent purchase of a Dell 4400. When looking for a PC I have always considered price, reliability, and speed as my main considerations. The previously mentioned PC's all had over a 90% reliability rating, compared to the now defunct Packard Bell and other low end PC's which can have as low as a 70% reliability rating. Buy a cheap PC if you enjoy long holds listening to elevator music while waiting for tech support. To those that believe you should build it yourself, I think if you already own MS office XP and Windows XP, or didn't want these, I suppose you can build a PC with the HW I got with my Dell for around the same price, but you would spend much more of your time finding these deals. Win XP, Office XP, 512 MB RAM, P4 1.6 ghz, 64 MB nVidia video, SB Live along with standard addtl. HW. Nice deal for approx. $1100.00! Dell was the only mainstream PC manufacturer that would include the original CD's for the installed SW and I refuse to buy from manufacturers that only provide a complete reinstall CD. I don't care to have all of their unnecessary program hooks put on my PC to slow it down. As much as I liked my previous PC's, Zeos was bought by Micron who in turn was bought by a new company that does not have a proven track record yet, IMHO. Hp does not provide the SW disks for the programs you pay for. So I am now a happy Dell owner. We have used them for over 5 years in our company and they have been proven reliable and stable in large numbers over an extended period of time. Buy Dell confidently. The sales person saved me over $200 over the price I was able to build it for online and it arrived in less than a week. Nice deal! |
