For starters, eye liner might seem pretty scary, if you don't know how to use it. Well, don't be scared. You don't need to be with this guide. Oh, and yes, it is safe to line the eye's inner rim, if you don't slip the applicator into your eye. Liquid Fun. Liquid Liners deliver intense, precise lines. If your eyeliner runs, I don't think you want to keep it. The best liquid liner I ever had in hands was L'oréal Lash Intensifique Liquid Eye Liner in Silver Alloy. A black, subtley shimmering colour. You won't believe it, but I went snowboarding with this stuff on a very snowy day- with not goggles and the eyeliner stayed on with all that wind blowing in my face like a cool blow dryer! Anyway, liquid eyeliners usually go better on the upper-lash-line. Try a sponge-applicator tip that looks like a thin pen-point. Use the very tiny tip for a thin line, and glide the sponge sideways onto your lid for a thicker line. If you have a liquid liner with a brush applicator, beware. The bristles might get out of control and move into a different position, resulting in a messy line. Pencil Art. Pencil lining can be tricky. Choose a good one that won't skip, in other words, that is really smooth and glides on in one stroke. Pencils are softer, so it is okay to use them on the lower-lash-line. For pretty eyes, only line the outer edge of your lower-lash-line- starting from the middle, going outwards. Your eye will look more defined and less freaky. Try and eyeliner with a smudger tip to smooth away mistakes. Best pencil eye liners are Prespectives Soft Lining Pencil and Lancôme Le Crayon Khol. When lining your upper-lash-line, press your finger down on the v of the outer edge of the eye, and stretch gently for a more solid, straight lash-line. Also, melt your pencil with a hair drier for 10-15 seconds to smooth the liner. Make sure your pencil is pointy, and not flat-rounded. Powder Power. Any high-pigmented eye-shadow can be used as eyeliner, with a smooth and soft, 1 cm long bristle brush. Try M.A.C 210 Eye Liner Brush (13.00$). If the eyeshadow can be wet, wet it! for more intense color. Also, try an Eyeshadow to Eyeliner Transformer. I use Lise Watier Métamorphix. (Just dip a drop of the potion into the eyeshadow cover, dip your brush in and sweep into the colour and you have eyeliner.) Sticking to the simple powder, always blow off excess on brush before applying so loose flecks won't mess up your skin if the fall off the brush. Similar to liquid eyeliner, just smooth on the brush, and if your eyeliner brush-applicator is not cheap, don't worry about bristles wondering around where you don't want them to go. Mascara Maniacs : If you hate eye liner, just apply mascara, holding the wand vertically to give more volume, making sure you reach the roots of your lashes, and the mascara will look like eye liner!!! Try L'oréal Voluminous Mascara. Aaaaaaaaah! Did you make a mistake? No, don't take off all the eye liner with a cotton ball and eye makeup remover. Instead, use a Q-tip, slightly dip it into your liquid eye makeup remover and remove your eye-liner!  |
