Pros: Lots of great pictures. Allows you to upload your own.
Cons: Glitches in the software installation
The Bottom Line: The site is great for photography, but the program is a memory hog.

Webshot.com is a great place for photographers (amateurs and professionals alike). It's also great for those that may not be photography buffs, but just enjoy looking at well done and charactaristic pictures.

The Site
======================================
The site is set up so it is very easy to navigate through to find the types of pictures that you are looking for. Most of the pictures you find are uploaded by members from their own private collections.
They encourage you to sign up, although it is not required to browse through the extensive libraries they have. You can find tons of pics in their Gallery, send ecards to friends and family with pictures you find, you can order your favorites as posters to hang on your walls, or even upload your own pictures for others to view. You can also order prints from your pictures and the first 5 are free!

The Wallpaper Program
======================================
Have you ever looked at someones computer desktop to find a really cool picture? And then come back the next day to find it changed to another equally superb background?
There are a lot of people that enjoy the aspect of being able to have their wallpaper updated daily to another picture that is in their collection.
With the Webshots downloadable program, you can have it for your own computer. You do have to sign up for membership at Webshots first, but that is a simple task. Then just choose which sample pack you want (nature, animals, etc...) and download the program. Once installed, you can set up the program to change pictures on a basis you are comfortable with.
However, be aware that if your computer is already working at a snails pace, you may not want to download this program. It does take up a lot of memory and sometimes will crash your computer. It doesn't happen very often, but if your computer is already slow, you have a higher liklihood of it happening to you.

MyPhotos!
======================================
If you have some digital pictures that you want to share with friends and family, this is a great way to do it. Just browse your own computer and hit upload. It's simple. Then you can invite your friends and family to view them.
If they want copies for themselves, they do have the option of having prints made for them and shipped. I haven't used this option since I have a Photo printer and it's just as easy for me to make my own copies.
In addition, you can choose to share your own pictures with the Webshots community. Allowing others to view them and comment on them.

Other Options
======================================
As you surf through the numerous photos in the whole community, there are a few other things you can do as well.
- Download them into your Webshots. If you have downloaded the program, you can choose to add them to the assortment of photographs that will be changed on your own desktop.
- Send as an ecard. If you find something that makes you think of someone, send them an ecard with the picture attached.
- Vote on the picture. You can rate the pictures on a scale of 1-5. If you like it (or dislike) let the owner know.
- View other albums by the author. If you like their work, you may want to check out some of the other albums that they have. Albums are usually separated by topics so you may only find a small amount of their work.

Overall Impression
======================================
I love using Webshots to find great ideas for my own photography needs. I used to use the downloadable program to change my desktop background, but found that it just took up too much memory. Plus I rarely have "nothing" open, so my desktop was rarely visible anyway.
But for anyone who enjoys photography, whether their own work or someone elses, Webshots is a great place to visit often. They are always updating, and everyday someone else adds something new. Plus, it's a great way to share your own pictures with your friends and family.
