Hard rock for Rage fans

The Bottom Line Adema - Adema, Linking Park - Hybrid Theory, and Disturbed - Sickness are all great albums.

Similar to "ad-dollars" opinion on Nonpoint, this editorial is here because of a lack of a better category. In a way, these are bands I feel are really not getting what they deserve in terms of airplay and respect.

Ever since Rage Against the Machine broke up, I have searched for different bands to listen to during long car rides, playing video games, and any other opportunity. I've been waiting for the new collaborative effort from Rage (minus Zach de la Rocha) and Chris Cornell of Soundgarden fame. However, I cannot wait in silence, so I have recently begun listening to newer hard rock bands.

At the top of the list right now is Adema. I could bore you with details of where they grew up and how they came into existence, but I neither have the time or the patience to subject you to such torture. This is a just an opinion on music, not a social commentary. Anyway, back to the point. Adema is nice mix of heavy guitars and vocals that makes you want to move your head to the beat, and in my case, drive really fast. Perhaps the best songs on the self-titled album are "The Way You Like It", "Freaking Out", and "Giving In", tracks 3, 4, and 5 respectively. It's an especially nice block of songs that I listen to repeatedly.

Another band I find very enjoyable to listen to is Linkin Park. "Hybrid Theory", the bands first album, is one of the best of the year. Linkin Park mixes in turntables into their music, similar to Limp Bizkit, but I believe Linkin Park incorporates it better than Bizkit. (On a side note, I used to be a big Limp Bizkit fan until they sold out.) My favorite track on "Hybrid Theory" has to be "Papercut", the album's first track. The vocals may be a little caustic for some listeners, but fans of Rage-type music shouldn't mind at all.

The third and final band I will recommend is Disturbed. As with Adema's album, I find myself driving much faster when Disturbed is playing, especially during "Voices". Disturbed is also very heavily guitar based and throws in some scratching. Great mix of sounds that goes along well with the vocals. It has a slight techno feel to it in that there is some repetitiveness in some beats, but it works really well.

There are more bands that I listen to, but I don't have the time to listen to them and describe them all. But, here's a list of some other bands you might want to check out:

Cold, Godsmack, Sevendust, A Perfect Circle, Tool, Staind, and Papa Roach.

If those are too hard for you, try:

Weezer, Alien Ant Farm, Sum 41, Incubus, and New Found Glory.

Happy listening.
