I am going on vacation in only a couple of more days . I bought this shave gel with high hopes . My husband and I are going to a water theme park and I wanted to look as good as possible . Since I do get razor rash from time to time , I wanted my legs as smooth as possible for the trip . I usually only use soap . It's slick , it works , and you have it in the bath anyway . Lets just say my legs look good , but no thanks to the gel .

Aveeno Shave Gel - Therapeutic Formula

I found this brand gel at my local grocery store . The average cost for this brand gel is around $6.00 for a 7 oz. (198g) bottle . Aveeno tends to be one of my favorite name brands , so I figured I would splurge and buy it . This time however , Aveeno let me down with a crashing fall . It boasts on the front of the package " enriched with oatmeal " and " dermatologist recommended " . ( I wonder how much they had to pay the dermatologist to recommend it ! ) It is specially formulated for sensitive skin , irritated skin , and razor bumps .

Well , I got razor rash ....... Maybe because I had to shave repeatedly just to get the hair off . The gel actually caused the razor to skip across my skin . It did not give a satisfactory shave at all . The gel just isn't smooth on me . There may be a good reason for this . On the back of the bottle it says to use a razor specially made to fight ingrown hair . I went to K-Mart and couldn't find a razor like this . I figured I do not get ingrown hair anyway so just forget it . Maybe that was my mistake ...

The gel is noncomedogenic ( won't block pores ) . I was happy to wake up the next day and not find giant pimples on my skin . I do not get them , but the way this stuff was going ... * grin * . Most women go for a really great smell . This gel is fragrance free ..... in other words it stinks .

What About Men ? Can They Use It ?

Shocker , the gel worked very well for my husband who like most men gets a painful face from shaving . He had very little razor rash and even forgot to put on after shave . I noticed a pretty good change in his skin . So , if you think it might be good for you , you can try it . There will not be much harm done if you can't use it and your spouse can .
