Hey All-
I have been a Sirius subscriber since day one and watched them grow from a mouse to a giant. With that, the value that they offer for the money has increased ten fold.
If you are a sports fan or a talk radio junkie, (like myself) Sirius is for you. You can listen to the NFL, Nascar, NBA and NHL. Combine these with the regional sports channels and ESPN and you have the total sports package. For talk radio, you have a wide variety of options from NPR to sports talk, to Martha Stewart to
numerous comedy stations and even Playboy radio(why? I have no idea!)
For the finale, you get Howard Stern. You get both of Howards channels, Howard 100 and 101 and they are uncensored and unedited. There are also numerous other shows that play on Howard 100 & 101 like Bubba the Love Sponge, The Ferrel Show and the Red Peters Comedy Hour. Like Howard, all are unedited and uncensored.
If you are a music nut, Sirius offers subscribers numerous channels for every music genre. My only complaint about the music channels is that if you are an avid listener to one type of music, say Pop, you will hear the same cycle of songs each day as they are not rotated regularly. The bonus is that there are enough channels to choose from so you can just change to another station.
Pricing with Sirius is simple. You can pay by month for $12.95, by year for $142.95, Two years for $271.95 or Lifetime (for the life of your RADIO) for $499.99. For me, I chose the lifetime plan and I cannot live without it.
The question I hear constantly is why pay for radio when "old-fashioned" radio is free? The reasons are simple. You get unedited and unaltered radio with a variety of programs for music listeners and sports fans alike. Some old fashioned radio markets like Seattle only have 10+ FM stations. Sirius gives markets like this the option of numerous channels for a small price.
Coverage - If you are on a long drive and you want to listen to your favorite station throughout your drive, this cannot be done with regular old fashioned radio. You will most likely enter different markets and have to work on finding a "similiar" station. With Sirius, you can listen to the same station when your on vacation in Cancun or if you are traveling to Canada on business or if you are at home in your bedroom in Seattle. You can take your favorite music or talk radio shows with you where ever you go!
Like anything, Satellite radio has its flaws. With coverage, certain conditions can interrupt your listening. I have not had a problem with clouds or weather conditions but I do lose coverage for a few seconds when I drive by electric power stations. This can be real irritating if your into a show and waiting for the proverbial punch-line and then "BLIP", your searching for a signal.
All and all, Sirius us a great value. Since adding Howard Stern to their lineup, Sirius (the company) has stabilized and the industry leader. They are constantly adding new programming to spice up their lineup so you do not have to worry about channel limits.
Give them a listen, I am sure you will be sold-
Regards-
T~
