Pros: Good value for light/emergency users, large local calling area, Reno/Tahoe/Vegas in area without roaming
Cons: signal not always terribly strong, unless you enjoy being on hold...
The Bottom Line: Their $20 calling plan is easily the best value I've seen for light/emergency local usage at that price point. I can't speak for higher priced plans.

| ziggy29's Full Review: Cingular Mobile Phone Service in San Francisco/San... |
If you rarely use the wireless phone but you don't want to go the prepaid route, the $19.99 Home 30 plan is one of the most competitive I've seen. I've seen other plans in the $20 price point, but the others (a) charge more than Cingular's 49 cents per additional minute, (b) give only 10-15 minutes instead of 30, and/or (c) charge up to 50 cents per long distance minute instead of the 15 cents I'm paying. In terms of what you get for what you pay for, it is easily the most competitive bottom-rung calling plan I've seen.
My plan also came with 250 free night and weekend minutes, so that also helps if you mostly only use the phone after hours for personal usage.
I haven't used customer service, though when I was calling them to inquire about the plan I was on hold for 30 minutes. I quit and went to a local store where they explained all the options to me. If you call customer service a lot, or need a lot of "hand holding," this may be a show-stopper.
The quality of the signal is pretty average when compared to other cellular/wireless providers I've heard from.
