The Bottom Line Buy a Gateway; their tech support is second to none!!
I bought a Gateway 700XL - 2.2GHz, 1 gig RDRAM, 120 gig hd, 64 mb ATI Radeon, DVD-RAM, CD-RW and an 18 inch flat panel monitor in March of 2002 and love it!!! The quality is excellent and the service I've needed so far has been outstanding. By service I mean email tech support. I've had a problem with the Boston Acoustics sound system and have emailed tech support a few times about it. When I say a few times for emailing them I don't mean this negatively and mean this in a most positive way. Every email has been replied to within just a couple hours with suggestions for me. The emails have always been friendly and the technicians have done their best to help me. Gateway is replacing the sound system and is doing it with NO hassles whatsoever. This is my first experience with Gateway and it's an awesome one so far. When I compare this to a low life Industry, California company named Royal Computer, well there is no comparison. Royal lived up to their name by being a royal pain in the butt to deal with for service and tech support and didn't care about its customers one little bit. Gateway, on the other hand, DOES show care for customers and is willing to work with them to see if the problem can be solved. My Gateway experience has even been better than number 1 ranked Dell. I've known people that dealt with their tech support and it was a struggle. Gateway's web site is easy to navigate, making it extremely easy to find a link to email for help.
