IF YOU QUIT I WILL QUIT (Reply to this comment)
by nuoneonejt
I had tried many times to quit smoking. I hollered at my husband several times that if he would quit it would be so much easier for me to quit. He wouldn't and said he didn't think he could quit.
Finally the day came when we set our date to quit. January 1st. You guessed it the day to make new amends and redo oneself.
Well he went 3 days with the Equate patch and I went 21 days. He made it thru this time and today is still not smoking. However I still am.
I went to the store yesterday to pick me up a pack only to learn they went up almost double in price and I bought 3 packs and I can almost guarantee you this is it for me. I don't know how I'm going to do this but I guarantee you when these 3 packs are gone so are my smoking days.
This is hard as I've tried several times with no success. However you have to put them down and don't cheat as if you do you are only cheating yourself. I'm one of the best on cheaters. I went out to look thru my vehicles for long cigarette butts, hid them in my basement, and even went and found a buddy to give me a drag. This is a no no. It only leads you to smoking more and more.
My dad smokes and when you go into his house even on the outside before you enter it is just a cloud of smoke. I am promising myself this year to be a non-smoker. One way or the other I am going to do this. It is very hard as I fear the weight gain. But on the other hand if I would do something else other than smoke and sit on my tush maybe I could lose weight.
Another thought for the smoker as I have them is that you will also have fewer wrinkles around the mouth. Maybe when my 3 packs are gone I will try to save to get my face back into shape. I keep saying I can't afford this but look at what I spend in cigarettes???? I know I could.
My best advice is don't smoke and if you do quit.

I have to share with you something my addicted mom said (though she did stop for 9 months, then started again when my dad died). I was visiting her last year in Florida when I suggested she get a patch from the drugstore. She smokes a lot. Probably spends WELL over $100/mo..more on cigarettes. Her answer, "The patch is so expensive." Since then she has gone to her doctor for a prescription patch but when I visited her in January, it was in the cabinet and she was smoking away. jo

Well, if I wrote the date(S) that I quit smoking, there would be no room for the actual review. I seem to have more than enough motivation to stop, but never enough to not go back. Thanks for the rating (especially since you were the one who gave me the idea to write this in the first place - by reading yours first!) :-)

I loved your review, added you to my Wot so I could follow your saga and great writings, but no where, no where could I find when you quit smoking! When was your quit? I'm guessing you have but if not, thanks for the sage advice and funny opinion! Great work. JBD

Well done (Reply to this comment)

Super advice here!!! I am one of those who could probably quit if I wanted to enough, but I just haven't reached that stage yet. I don't know what's more sad, to see 18 year olds already investing their hard-earned cash on the things, or knowing that I'm no different.
I don't understand how these people like Paul Sheldon in "Misery" smoke just one cigarette once in a while. If I quit and then I smoked just one to commemorate something, I'd be back on them full force. It's just a quick and easy way to take the burdens of life off of your mind, and a tough thing to give up, that's for sure!
Anyway, see ya later,
FP
